Case Study challenge #159

It's the last week as Kathy Racoosin as the Muse at Case Study Challenge. I'm so glad she was muse this month and to have discovered her wonderful work!

Here is Kathy's card...

And here is my card ...

.

The stamp and the bottle cap are from Urban Stamps. I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black, clear embossed and then coloured the background of the image with distress ink and sprayed pearl white perfect pearls over the image for a bit of shimmer. I embossed the white card and black tag with a circle pattern for a bit of texture.
ETA I meant to add this card to the MFW Metal, Wood and cork challenge

Muse Card Challenge #36 - Karen M

I saw the beautiful card Karen had made for the Muse Card challenge and had to play along.
This is Karen card...

And here is my take....

I have used a combination of Distress inks, spray mist and perfect pearls for the background. When it was dry, I stamped the Christmas tree three times with Faded Jeans distress ink and also some stars.
I dried it with a heat gun (cause I'm impatient!) and then stamped the trees again with gold ink and brushed gold perfect pearls over the stamped image. I spritzed it with water to set. Then I stamped the sentiment on a PB die-cut and swiped the edge with gold. I coloured the chipboard deers with gold and added gold glitter glue to the stars. Oh yes, I made the matt card by swiping gold ink on the edges and heat embossing with gold sparkle powder. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft and the trees and stars are from Hot off the Press (a magazine freebie!).

I am also entering this card in the Moxie Fab World - All that Glitters is Gold Challenge.

Penny Black Colourful Christmas

Hi, I'm back with a quick post, hopefully to meet the deadline for the Penny Black Colour Combo Challenge. It's Grand Final Day for Aussie Rules, so I have to rush back to see how our team is going - it's a nail-biter!

Day 5 Same Stamp/Die Collabo with Jill Foster

What a wonderful week I've had! I feel so honoured that Jill  chose to do this collabo with me and it just goes to show what a kind and encouraging person she is! Thank you so much - I am so happy to have you as a blog buddy! I also want to say how much I enjoy using Penny Black products - they are so beautiful and versatile.

Today is our last day and we are featuring the Penny Black Tagged Die set.

Here is my 1st card...

I die-cut 3 small tags out of balsa wood and then stamped the medallion image from the Penny Black Round and Round set in 3 different colours. Then I swiped the ink on some white card and die-cut the butterflies. The pearls were coloured with copic markers.
The background card was sprayed with glimmer mist, dried and then stamped with Penny Black Flower Flourish. To finish this off ! used a brush to add pearl white Perfect Pearls over the stamped image for some shine. I machine stitched a border around the blue card. The sentiment tag was die cut twice to make it smaller. I'm entering this card in the MFW  Handmade Card Week Metal, Wood and Cork and MFW Handmade Card Week Colour Media Challenge.

In my next card I have used 5 of the shapes from the Tagged set. What I love about this set is that it helps you to make a card with co-ordinating paper pads. I have used paper from the  Prima Sun Kissed collection and vellum in this card.

In my last card I've used  the gorgeous Penny Black Blissful stamp again with the butterflies and tag from the Tagged die set.  Thank you to everyone who has visited my blog, Flickr gallery and Facebook this week and left lovely comments - your encouragement makes my day!

I uses some distress ink and also some versachalk inks to get the ombre effect. The colours are from the Penny Black colour  challenge. I'm also entering this card in the MFW Handmade Card Week Colour Media Challenge.

Now pop over to Jill's blog to see what masterpiece she has created today!

Day 4 of Same Stamp/Die Collabo with Jill Foster

Wow,  did you see Jill's card yesterday?  I love the bold colours and patterns, contrasting with the white  die-cut Iris - beautiful!

Today we are hilighting another die - the fun Flutters set, which includes 2 butterflies and a dragonfly, which you may have noticed on quite a few of my cards recently!

Here is my 1st  card for today...

I began by stamping a background text stamp on a piece of watercolour paper, then stamped Penny Black's Blissful using Antique Linen Distress Ink and clear embossed. I coloured the image with Twinkling H2Os. I coloured the ribbon with distress ink to match. I cut a piece of watercolour paper and coloured the edges with the blue to match and matted it behind the image.
Finally, I diecut the dragonflies and painted them with H2os - I really love the shine this medium gives.

Now for my next card you might need the same sunglasses you wore yesterday for Jill's card!
I have never made a card with these colours before! These are the colours Australia wears at the Olympic Games.

As you can see, I went artsy this time. I stamped the image from Penny Black Round and Round repeatedly on watercolour paper and then white embossed. Then I used distress inks by sponging and spraying and also using the ink on an acrylic block - spritzing and pressing the block to the paper.
When it was dry I added the sentiment from Penny Black's Sentimental stamp set.
The Flutters diecuts were sponged and stamped with another stamp from the Round and Round stamp set. I finished off by adding seam binding, flower and pearls.
I'm entering both these cards in the Moxie Fab World Colour Media Challenge.

Thanks for looking, now pop over to Jill's blog to see what she has created.

Day 3 Penny Black Same Stamp/Die Collabo with Jill Foster

I'm having so much fun doing this collabo with Jill, she is soooo inspiring!

Today we are featuring the Penny Black Iris die, which is so very beautiful and realistic. You can use it as a silhouette, you came colour it (watercolour is my favourite way) or you can use it as a stencil.
I'm sure there are more ways to use this die in a project. How would you use it, any ideas?

As I mentioned the other day, it is spring in my part of the world and that means the Irises are beginning to bloom - yay! Here is a picture of our garden from a previous Spring

Here is my first card...

The designer paper is from Bo Bunny - I love the colours and it is perfect for paper piecing.
I'm entering this card in the Moxie Fab World Metal, Cork and Wood Challenge.

My next one is simple, but classic...

I just love the white on white and my all time favourite colour scheme is black and white with a touch of colour.
I'm entering this card in the Colour Q #208

I was intending to do a watercolour card using the negative as a stencil and then water colouring the die cut, but it's been a very hectic few days looking at Nursing Homes and then negations.
We were offered a room yesterday and he moved in today, as the hospital wanted his bed.
So I feel relieved that it's all organised, but feel very sad because we are entering this new phase of life.
It's also difficult leaving him there with less care than he was getting in hospital, but we can only hope and pray that he doesn't have another fall and will settle in.  It's a nice room with a lovely outlook, so hopefully he will at least find that comforting.
So, anyway, I'll have to do another card soon with a water-coloured iris.

Don't forget to check out Jill's blog

Day 2 Penny Black Stamp/Die Collabo with Jill Foster

Oh my goodness - did you see the card Jill made yesterday - a complete knockout!

Today we are hi-lighting another gorgeous stamp set - Lace Trims.

I am so in love with this set, I seem to use it nearly every day - I just know I'll never get sick of it, because lace patterns are classical.

Here is my first card...
As you can see, in this example, the lace pattern is subtle. I have used PanPastels on the card and then stamped the lace images with Brilliance ink. The hexagon window was die cut with one of the dies from the Penny Black Tagged set, as is the butterfly. The sentiment is from the Penny Black Sentimental stamp set.

My next card uses similar colours, but I have made the lace image more of a feature by stamping and embossing with white - I think it tones down the brightness...

This time I have used distress inks to sponge the background. The Butterfly die is from  Penny Black Flutters die set.
The colour scheme I've used in these cards is from one of the colour challenges at Penny Black
(You don't have to make a Christmas card)

ETA I'm entering these cards in the Moxie Fab World Colour Media Challenge.

Same Stamp/Die Collabo week with Jill Foster!!!!

I can't tell you how excited I am to have been asked to join Jill Foster in a week of collaboration using Penny Black products.

Jill is my all time favourite paper crafter! Her creations always make me happy, because they are so bold and colourful and so expertly executed. So I am incredibly honoured to be teaming up with Jill in this fun week of collaboration. Each day we will hi-light either a Penny Black Stamp or Die.

For our first day we are using one of my very favourite stamp sets - Floral Applique.

This stamp set is soooo versatile, it looks wonderful using just one image, or all of them, coloured in or as a background - no matter how it is used, it always looks classy and elegant! Here is my card...

I was inspired by the colours and photos in the current Runway Inspired challenge - nautical colours seem to be every at the moment and using this stamp set in dark blue in white card, reminds me of china ware.
I have used the smaller flower stamp to create a background using Chipped Sapphire distress ink.
The chipboard letters are from American Crafts - I coloured them to match and the birthday sentiment die is a cheapie from a discount store. I also coloured the seam binding with the distress ink. The butterfly is from Penny Black's Tagged die set.

Thanks so much for looking, now go and check out what Jill has created here.

Here is another card..

I have coloured the flowers with Twinkling H2Os  for a watercolour effect.

The last card was not planned, it was one of those cards with a mind of it's own! I started off using copic markers, but then added some other highlights with glitter pen. Then I decided to make it a bit more mixed media and sponged distress ink on the background and randomly stamped one of the lace trim stamps with gold oil pastel, finishing it off by swiping the edges with gold as well.

Thanks so much for looking, now go and check out what Jill has created here.

ETA: I'm entering the first card in the Runway Inspired Challenge
I'm entering the 3rd card in the Moxie Fab World - All That Glitters is Gold.

Happy Spring Day

The sun is shining, the sky is blue... It's Spring here in Australia and today is one of those perfect days which make you feel happy!

I have something exciting happening on my blog this week, so please check back later today to see what it is.

In the meantime, here is a card ...

Runway Inspired ric#44 - Zuhair Murad/ MFW General Craft Supplies

You have to check out the current Runway Inspired challenge - the dress is absolutely divine an the design team, as always, have come up with some great inspiration. I'm also entering this in the Moxie Fab General Craft Supplies challenge, because I've used the tulle.

The stamps are from Kaisercraft and the tulle is from my old sewing stash. The dragonfly die is one of my favourites from Penny Black. I've used Chipped Sapphire distress ink.
The photo makes one of the dragonflies look black, so I will try to get a better photo when the light improves.

MFW All that Glitters is Gold - Quite Literally!

When I saw the title for this challenge, I thought why not? So out came the glitter and I think it has migrated throughout the whole house!!!

It is raining and gloomy outside so the gold looks a bit dark - I'll try to get a better photo tomorrow.
I used a die from Fancy That (it actually has 3 different globes - but my favourite is this one!).

While I had the glitter out, I made a few more embellishments, so stay tuned .....

MFW Ready Made Embellishments, Stickers & Tape and All That Glitters is Gold Challenges

Here's another card for some  Moxie Fab challenges.

Yet again, I have used chipboard and stickers from AC Dear Lizzie collections. The bird is a Memory Box die cut with glitter added.
I am entering this in 3 MFW Challenges, here, here and here.

MFW Ready Made Embellishment & Stickers & Tape Challenges

Yay, I'm having fun with the challenges at Moxie Fab World this week and I'm using up lots of stash!

In this card I have used washi tape and a journal card from the Dear Lizzie collection so I am entering it in the Stickers & Tape challenge and the Ready Made Embellishment challenge.

MFW Ready Made Embellies 3

Ha., ha! I'm on a roll here. This is my 3rd card for the Moxie Fab World Ready Made Embellishment challenge.

The clipboard, feather and sentiment are stickers from the Dear Lizzie collection and the bird is from Kikki K.

MFW Ready Made Embellishment 2

I'm very excited about this challenge! I have so many embellishments just sitting there waiting to be used and I always feel guilty buying more, when I haven't used the ones I had previously bought because I just 'had to have them'!!! Know what I mean????

So here is my 2nd card for the Ready Made Embellishment challenge at MFW.

The paper, tag, sentiment sticker and chipboard house are from Dear Lizzy.
Please excuse the shadows, but I wanted the sunlight on the card.

MFW The Ready Made Embellishment Challenge

Cath has another challenge for us, to celebrate the handmade Cards magazine release.
This Moxie Fab challenge is to use any ready made embellishment to make a card.
What a great opportunity to use up all that stash!!!

My first card was actually used on the weekend for a friend of my daughter.

The journal card is from Dear Lizzie and I love the sentiment, especially when it's for a birthday party.
The paper is from Kikki K an Australian stationary shop.

It's funny, I was about to put 'store' instead of 'shop' - it seems that blogging is making me talk 'American'!!!

Penny Black Colour Challenge and Muse Card Challenge

Penny Black are having a Christmas Colour challenge to celebrate their new release. You can actually make Christmas, birthday or anything in between, so long as you use one of the colour combos.
I'm also entering this in the Muse Card Challenge #35.

Muse Card

I have used Penny Black Lace Trims and Sentimental stamps and butterfly dies. The tag was also made using a PB die. I coloured the butterflies with Pan Pastels.

Case Study Challenge 157 take 2 and MFWTuesday Trigger

Moxie Fab World TT In transition
CARD No.2 for Case Study  and Tueday Trigger
My second card is the brightest card I've ever made!
I used water colour pencils and then swiped a damp sponge across to blend a little bit.
The feathers are my other brand new dies from Memory box - definitely in love with these!

Case Study Challenge - Kathy Racoosin week 2

Another quick couple of posts. Dad had a fall yesterday and he is very confused and unwell today so I'm going to sit with him for a while.

I made 2 cards for this weeks Case Study Challenge - I love Kathy's card.

CARD No. 1
This is my 1st card. I white embossed and then sponged the card with distress inks to make it look like a fence. The stamps and dies  are  brand new from  Lawn Fawn - very excited about that!

Less is More #146

Here's another card made for the Less is More Colour challenge - Dark green and rust.
Well of course those colours just spoke of Fall, although it's Spring here and I had some *NBUD (never before used dies) from Impression Obsession.
I will also enter this in the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge - Make your Mark

I used a combination of Twinkling H2Os, distress inks and perfect pearls on the leaves.

* Borrowed (and adapted) acronym from Darnell

Muse Card Challenge

What a day! Sorry, just saying! It started with the school drop off drive being like a dodgem car ride (amazing how a little bit of rain can make people go crazy!). Then I got a call from my 87 yo Mum to say my Dad had cracked it (do you Americans know that expression?) with his nurse at Rehab hospital and refused to let her back in the room. Calmed Mum down, sorted the hospital situation, then went to visit my 92 yo Uncle in Nursing Home and spent 1/2 an hour explaining that there was no-one else in the dining room yet because it was only 11am and lunch was at 12pm. Next I went to visit my brother who has just finished chemo and got all clear last week, but then got a chest infection with high temp and elevated heart rate!

So I'm home again now and needed a bit of card making therapy - here is my 1st card. It is for the Muse Card Challenge - this weeks Muse is Therese Calvird.

Here is my take...
