CAS Mix Up & CAS Watercolor reminders

Hi again. I'm back to remind you about our February challenges.

Firstly at CAS Mix Up, Joanna is our host and she's challenging you to use a die-cut for a stencil.

Die-cut Stencil, Acrylic paint, Heat Embossing & Stamping

I bought a new paint that I thought was dimensional, but it was still still a bit fluid, so my 1st attempt ended up in the bin (trash) - I had scraped it over the die cut and it bled under the edges. So this time I sponged on the paint. I did it a few times, drying it in between layers. You can't tell from the pic, but it's a shimmery paint. To get the sentiment to match, I used a white ink pad and silver pearl embossing powder. To finish, I mounted it on the base card and added some pearls.

The die is from Tim Holtz Sizzix and the stamp is from Stamplorations.

This month the talented Ina is our Guest Designer and you can see her card and more inspiration from the the DT at the blog.

Next up is my card for this month's CAS Watercolour Challenge. Marcia is our host and she's challenged us to play with Red & Black this month.

I stamped Penny Black's 'SpringBlossoms' using Zig Markers. Then I added detail to the blossoms with Gansai Tambi watercolour paint. Then I took a damp brush and went around the image to make the colour bleed. To finish I mounted on a black card base and stamped the sentiment from Altenew.

This was an earlier attempt, which was much looser in style...

We have the delightful Michelle, from 'I Card Everybody' as our Guest Designer this month. You can see Michelle's card and more inspiration from our DT over at the CAS Watercolour blog.

Penny Black 'Love is in the Air' reminder

Hi there. It's already mid February😳 That means it's time to remind you about the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

Our challenge theme is
'ANYTHING GOES': OPTIONAL 'LOVE IS IN THE AIR'

I used a stamp from Penny Black 'Smile all Day' stamp set, masking part of the image, so I could add the balloon.  I coloured the fox and hedgie with Copic Markers.  I then added the heart to the envelope and the heart balloon, drawing the string to replace the flower from the stamp.

Red & Black Watercolour

Hi there. It's time for another CAS Watercolour Challenge and this month, our host Marcia, has chosen 'Black and Red' as a theme.

My first thought was to do a flower ie poppy, but then I thought of Banksy's 'Balloon Girl' and that's where I got my inspiration.

I used Zig Markers directly on the stamp and spritzed, stamping repeatedly until I was happy. I used a slightly wet brush to blend on the page. I had to leave out part of the image, above the horizon line, because that made it more CAS and sharp.
The 'Eiffel Tower" stamp is from Penny Black and the sentiment 'Small Fancy Labels 4' is from Inspired by Stamping

This month our Guest Designer is...
I hope you visit our blog to see what the rest of the team have created and you can join in the challenge.

I hope you'll join us in this month's challenge!

Stencilling with Die-Cuts

Hi there friends. It's time to start a new CAS Mix Up Challenge!

Joanna is our host this month and she's challenging us to use a die-cut as a stencil.

I'm having a bit of a struggle with my Big Shot machine (I think it's on the way out!) not cutting the entire pattern, but luckily I had previously cut this amazing Hibiscus Frame from Simon Says, so I was able to make this card.

Die-Cut Stencil, Distress Inks, Mica powder and water, Die-cut, sequins & Stamping

I used make-up brushes to blend Distress Inks through the die-cut stencil. Then I splashed some water with a touch of mica powder of the panel.  When dry I stamped the sentiment and added the die-cut stamen, coloured with Zig Markers.

Die: SSS Hibiscus Frame
Stamp: Altenew

We are joined this month by the talented Ina and you can see her wonderful card and more inspiration from our Design Team over at the CAS Mix Up blog.

I hope you'll join us in this month's challenge!
