A few months ago I made a card with these gorgeous Hummingbirds and I fussy cut the images. Well, much to my surprise, a few weeks later, I received a surprise gift from Darnell! She bought me the co-ordinating dies!!! So thank you again my friend, for your thoughtfulness and generosity!
I decided to loosely watercolour the Petunias to reflect the colours of the birds. I used Zig Markers and Twinkling H2Os, because I imagine Hummers must be shimmery.
Stamps: Pretty Pink Posh 'Hummingbird Thanks' & 'Pretty Petunias' ; Penny Black 'Banner Sentiments'
I decided to make my second card a shaker, for something different, but was cursing myself during the process - it's definitely not my forte!
I made a smooshed background for the shaker with Distress Inks and Zig Markers.
The die is from Impression Obsession.
Stamps: Pretty Pink Posh 'Hummingbird Thanks' ; Altenew 'Enchanted Iris'

Both cards are amazing!! I love the hummingbirds too and your perfect colouring.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely colouring, Jenny ... on your sweet hummers and those gorgeous blooms ... and the smooshy background for your shaker is fabulous! Wonderful framing on both cards! Isn't Darnell a sweetie ... not only do you have the dies, we get to enjoy them too! Thanks so much for playing along again with us at Twofer! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Jenny! The dies do make it easier, don't they? When I got mine, I went a little nuts and cut a bunch. Of course, they are all waiting, naked, for me to do something with them, so thank you for this fabulous Twofer! I was especially swooning over that shaker card, anxious to read how you did it. I'm sorry to hear it gave you fits. I have all the schtuff, watch all the videos, and still they give me fits, too. In this case, however, we would never know! The card is stunning with the black base, white detailed frame, and the amazing colors on the shaker background and sweet hummer!
ReplyDeleteThat's not to say I'm not equally in love with the bold and brilliant shimmer and color of your birthday floral design! I love the frame on kraft which seems to make your beautiful flowers and birds POP even more! Great schplatters, too! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #20! Hugs, Darnell
What sweet little hummers, Jenny! Love your coloring on both cards! I agree that shakers are hard, but they are so special!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful cards Jenny - love those wee hummers and the beautiful petunias. The background in your shaker is perfect!

These are both wonderful cards Jenny and I love that you call the birds Hummers! (That word has now snuck into my vocabulary!) I love your beautiful watercolouring and the smooshed background for the shaker. As for making shakers - they are far too much effort for me but I'm impressed and inspired so watch this space!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen more beautiful hummingbirds ever! Both of your cards are so gorgeous! Those petunias look amazing, and I love the little splatter of ink. The background of your shaker is beautiful as well! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
