Grungy, but Feminine?

Hi it's been a couple of days since I posted, not because I haven't been creating, but because there was a cable outage in our area, so we had no internet. So I'm playing catch up.

I started out being inspired by Lorraine and Melissa's ornament (bauble) tags from day 1 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tag Challenge, but mine ended up totally different!

I dry embossed a piece of watercolour paper and die cut the ornament.  Then I swiped some resist ink over the raised part of the pattern and gold embossed.  Next I painted the tag with Twinkling H2Os and gave it another hit with the heat gun to re-activate the embossing powder.  I then stamped the sentiment on white card and gold embossed. I decided to swipe all the edges with resist ink and gold emboss again. I wasn't too worried about the specks of extra gold, because that added to the 'grunge' effect.

Paper Pieced Puppy

My daughter, who is christmas obsessed,  started playing Michael Bubble Christmas music today - so it really is starting to feel a bit like Christmas here, despite the blue skies and sunshine! We start early in the Martin household and of course we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, so there's no need to wait!

Speaking of Christmas, here is another tag inspired by Tracy Freeman's tag from day 1 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags Challenge.

Yes, I've used the puppy from MFT Stamps 'Happy Pawlidays' stamp set again! I do love this set. This time I paper pieced - stamping the image 4 times to get the finished image. I didn't have any musical notes like the Tracy's tag, so I stamped the musical script with versamark and swiped gold Pan Pastel over this. The sentiment is a Silhouette cut file and the snowflake is from MFT. I used the gold Pan Pastel on these as well. The designer paper is from Kaisercraft.

In the Meadow

Today I decided to break out Papertrey Inks' 'In the Meadow' stamp set. It really is a beautiful and versatile set. I purchased it a year after it's release - it seem I'm often late to the party. I went through a period of denying myself new Christmas stamps, but as you can see from my blog, I'm a bit obsessed with Christmas! So now I do buy new Christmas product, but I try to get sets which can be used for non- christmas projects as well.

I began by dry embossing a watercolour panel and stamping the tree with distress ink - spritzing to get a watercolour look. Next I masked the tree and stamped and white embossed the background. I brushed away some of the embossing powder in the places I wanted the snowflakes. The snowflakes were then stamped and embossed as well as embossing the edges of the tree. I sponged the background with distress Inks. To finish I added the bling and stamped horse and carriage and mounted on the red card base.

Snowflake Tag

I'm still busily making Christmas tags - I have so many ideas bouncing around in my head!

I was inspired by Jen Carter's tag from Day 6 in the 25 Days of Christmas Tags Challenge.

I die cut the snowflake panel and then cut it again with the tag die. To add a shimmer, I used Wink of Stellar on the snowflake panel. Then I layered another snowflake and sentiment, added some bling and the stamped sentiment. To finish I added the beaded thread.
The snowflake background die is from Kaisercraft, the large snowflake die from Avery Elle, the sentiment from WPlus9 and the tag die from MFT.

Another Year Wiser

I have a non- holiday card to share this morning! It's for the MFT Sketch Challenge.

The stamp set I used are MFT 'I'm Owl Your' and MFT Spring Wreath. I coloured with Zig Markers and Daniel Johnson watercolours. The foliage was stamped with Altenew ink. I was trying out some new watercolour paper, but I'm not so happy, as it bled a bit.

Glamorous Gold

Hi there. Yes, you guessed it - another christmas tag!

I hope you can see how pretty the gold foil is. I was inspired by Gayatri's tag from day 1. I used designer paper from Kaisercraft.  The snowflake die is from Avery Elle and the foliage from Tim Holtz. The sentiment and brad are also from Kaisercraft. I'm doing well at using up all my old stuff. Yay!
