THE CARD CONCEPT #203 NEW YEAR LOVE

Hello Crafty Friends! Welcome to a Wonderful New Year of challenges at The Card Concept

We have a beautiful photo, with lots of pretty elements, to spark your creativity.

I zeroed in on the striped heart in the bottom right...

I used dies from Pretty Pink Posh and some watercolours to create my Clean & Layered card.
The sentiment is from Altenew.

Remember, an inspiration photo is exactly that- a starting point for inspiration. Will it be the colours, the overall theme, the texture, the actual items and/or something else that will inspire your card?

I hope you'll visit The Card Concept Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the team has created and will be inspired to play along in the challenge with us.

Choose a design style (or combine styles), create a card, and in your blog post, let us know what inspired you from the photo, what style and/or styles you chose and don't forget to display our inspiration photo and link back to our challenge.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog! I love to read your comments:)

Sharing some oldies

 Hi there Crafty Friends!

I'm very slow with my creating at the moment and there's a lot of quality control happening. My waste paper basket is full of rejects! I've mainly been playing with PB Cling stamps and I want the results to be perfect - but I think I need to let that go!  Sometimes I find things I've thrown away and decide I really like it! Does this happen to you?

I also have a big folder of finished, but never shared stuff, so as it's a new year, I think it's time to whittle that down and share some. So here are a few.

I noticed on Loll's blog that the the GROUP of SEVEN Card-makers are playing with TORN EDGES, so it's the perfect time to share this card.
I used some of my coveted patterned paper and Pretty Pink Posh stamps to create a colourful scene.

Here is another way to create the look of a TORN EDGE - using a mask a sponging ink and stamping to create a Faux torn edge.

I used an Old Hero Arts stamp and a New Embossing Powder.
Stamp: Hero Arts Rose
Edging stamp from Kaisercraft

I'm sharing this at the following:-

I made this card during a class with Online Card Classes.
I stamped and gold embossed the an old fave Hero Arts background stamp and sponged some inks.
Then I cut the panel in to strips and randomly arranged them.
It's a fun technique and was new to me.
Stamp: Hero Arts Eucalyptus Cling Background
Pinkfresh Studio sentiment

CAS MIX UP (JUNE 21)

Hello there Crafty Friends! This month at CAS Mix Up we have a Water-colour themed challenge. Viv is our host and the prompt is 'FLIGHT'. That should give you plenty of scope.  Please be sure to keep your card designs Clean and Simple.

I just love these cute PPP Hummers and I used a new floral stamp set I purchased from Amazon. I'm not sure of the designer.
All the images were stamped in black, clear embossed and coloured with Zigs. The birds were kindly gifted to me by Darnell!
The frame die is from Penny Black.

We have the lovely Joyce (Cards-by-the-Sea) as our Guest Designer this month and you can see her card  and more inspiration at our blog.

I'm also sharing my card at the following challenge:-

Hummingbird Wings

Hi there crafty friends. This is a quick post, because I should be getting dinner!

This card was inspired by the prompt at Time Out Challenge, which is '    MOVE'.

I stamped the floral image and then made a wash around it.  I stamped the Hummingbird with gold ink, coloured it with Zig Markers and die-cut. I then stamped the sentiment and sponged ink around the die-cut panel.  To finish is was mounted on a buffalo kraft card base.

I'm sharing at the following:-

I am sad to see Sandie is stepping down from Time Out. She has alwasy been so inspiring with her wonderful creations and very generous with her encouragement. I hope you have a well deserved rest Sandie and thanks for all your hard work! I'll still be playing at Time Out whenever I can:)

Silver Bells and Yellow Hummingbird

That sounds like an odd combination! It's ok, I have 2 very different cards to share...

This card was inspired by the graphic below. I stamped the Hummingbird and flowers from Pretty Posh Pink and coloured with Zig Markers and added shimmer with Wink of Stellar. The black border is from Mama Elephant. I've recently 're-discovered' this set and You'll see more stamped borders in the future!
The sentiment is from The ton Stamps.

Since this has to be one Layer, I couldn't add sequins, but I did add dimensional dots in the centre of the Petunia.

i'm sharing this card at the following challenges:-

Make it Colourful

My next card is for this month's CAS Christmas Challenge. The theme is BELLS.

I was inspired by this card made by my friend Shirley. I Coloured the bells with Distress Stain (Pewter) and my Silver Wink of Stella.  The ribbon was coloured with Zig Markers. The stamp set is Stamplorations Holiday Sketches: Christmas Bells. The die is from Penny Black.
