Penny Black Saturday Challenge (January 2021)

Well 2021is upon us and let's hope it brings better times ahead for everyone! It's the first Saturday of the month, so it's time for the first challenge of the year at Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

The theme is 'ANYTHING GOES' or 'SOMETHING NEW'.

I used a new (to me) die set from Penny Black called 'Heart Around'. I  used 2 of the dies to cut and emboss.  Next I watercoloured with watered down Nuvo Shimmewr Powder and when dry, fussy cut around the heart shape.  The Hedgie was coloured with Copic Markers and fussy cut.
Stamps: Penny Black 'Lovable', 'Sprinkles & Smiles'

CAS Colours & Sketches

 Hi there!
I'm super excited to let you know I'm joining the Design Team at CAS Colours & Sketches for next year. I've really enjoyed joining in their challenges this year and they have so many inspiring creators on their team. So I feel very lucky to have been chosen along with some other incredibly talented card-makers:)

We are joining in the current challenge which is to choose any of the previous challenge prompts from during the year and use it as inspiration to make a Seasonal themed card.  If you're feeling ambitious, you can even combine one of our sketch challenges with one of our colour challenges to create your own double challenge!

I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide to make a wash in the top corner of the card.
Then I stamped some pine boughs and the sentiment and silver embossed.
Next I die-cut the Penny Black 'Ornament Branch', coloured it with Brushos and Metallic Watercolours.
I also stamped and embossed a snowflake on the ornament. To finish I splattered some more red and backed with a red card base.

I think these colours are a fun combination for a Holiday card!

As if all of that isn't enough excitement, CAS Colours & Sketches are also celebrating a  milestone 400th challenge this week!   One lucky winner whose card meets our challenge requirements will be chosen from our participants in this week's challenge, and will receive an in-stock stamp set of the winner's choice from Uniko!  Uniko Ltd. is a small family-run business based in the United Kingdom, and it specializes in high quality clear photopolymer stamps designed specifically for stampers by an avid stamper.

I hope you'll visit the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge blog to see what the rest of the team created and hopefully be inspired to join in the challenge!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog! I love to read your comments:)

Christmas Sketch

Hi there. I'm very happy to be back at our beach house, after 6 months of hard lockdown.   I have a lot of my Christmas supplies here, so I excited to find lots of ribbons, papers and embellishments:)

I masked 3 sides of the card front and sponged Distress and Distress Oxide Inks.  The lamp post, the sentiment and silhouette figure were then stamped.  I die-cut the tree and coloured with Copic Markers.  I then die-cut a 'slope' to add dimension.  I used glitter pen on the lantern and tree decorations. To finish, I added some splatter with White Gouache and some snowflake sequins.
Stamps: Penny Black On the Town; Verve (sentiment)
Dies: Dp Craft Winter Wonderland; Uniquely Creative Stitched Rolling Hills

I'm sharing my card at the following challenges:-

A whale of a birthday!

Hi there. It's my birthday today and I've been celebrating by making cards! Again! My Husband has been busy cleaning the bathrooms - not a bad pressie:)

I decided to combine 2 of my favourite Lesia Zgharda stamps to make a masculine card, because it's my Nephew's birthday in a few days.
I coloured the images with Zig Markers and an Aquabrush. It isn't watercolour paper, so I didn't use much water.  The sentiment is from The Ton Stamps.

I'm sharing my card at the following challenges and in a Design Team call at Perfectly CAS.

Here is another card I made for my daughter to give her boyfriend.

I sponged the background with Distress Inks & Distress Oxides, using a stencil for the 'sea'. The dies are from Penny Black . Sorry I've forgotten which stamp I used.

I'm sharing this card at the following:-

Butterfly Twofer

It's time for another Twofer Card Challenge and the theme is a favourite - 'BUTTERFLIES'!
The hardest part is choosing which butterfly stamp/die/stencil to use, so don't be surprised to see more cards! I have used a stamp from Inspired by Stamping for this twofer...

If anyone is looking for this stamp, they are still available through Joanna's Etsy shop.

This sentiment is from Penny Black and I used Delicata Gold Ink,  Zig Markers and Nuvo Shimmer Gloss Pen.

This sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp and again I used Zigs and Nuvo Shimmer Gloss. The leaves are from Altenew 'Leaf Clusters'.
You may have noticed I'm a bit addicted to the simmer - I'm even tempted to use it on masculine cards!!!

I'm sharing at the following:-

Flower Power

Just sharing a couple of cards I made last week and posted on Instagram.

I used The Ton Stamp's 'Magnificent Magnolia' again, but this time I did a watercolour using Distress inks and Zig Markers.
I needed a 'cheers' sentiment, which I didn't have, but came up with the idea to 'doctor' some stamps, so 'cheer up' and 'with sympathy' became 'cheers'.

The rose die is one of my favourites  from Penny Black - it's gorgeous and always reminds me of 'Beauty and the Beast' :)  I used zig markers to colour the die cut. The background stamp is an oldie and I partially inked it up. The sentiment is from Clearly besotted.

I'm entering the Rose card in the following challenges:-

Spotlight Stamping Technique

Hi there. Sorry I've been absent from my blog. I've still been making cards, but I've been sharing them on Instagram, because I was staying at my beach house and only had my Iphone. You can see them here.

I noticed a lot of cards around blogland and Instaland using the 'Spotlight Stamping' technique and I've never done this myself, so thought I'd give it a try. This is my card...

I used a beautiful Penny Black collage stamp and then cut out the centre panel and coloured that part only.

I'm entering the following challenges:-
