Runway Inspired - Baby Shower Special (girl)

This card is to celebrate the birth of Sarah's little girl. Congratulations to Sarah! Join the fun here.

I was inspired by the pattern in the boy's jacket and the frills in the girl's
outfit so I have combined them both in this card.

Runway Inspired - Baby Shower (boy card)

Runway Inspired Challenge are having a special Baby Shower challenge to
celebrate the birth of a little girl and boy to Sarah and Christina.

Here is my card for Christina's little boy. I have used Making Memories
card and ribbon and a Stampin Up sentiment.
The templates for the Scotty dog came from a magazine.
I used a cuttlebug embossing folder to create texture in the background.
Congratulations Christina!

Runway Inspired #16 - No.2

This is a very quick post, in case I'm too busy in the morning. This is my second card for the Runway Inspired Challenge.

I'll pop back tomorrow with a better photo and some info. I got very inky on this one!
I'm on a big high because I've just returned from a concert at which K.D. Lang performed - she brought everyone to tears with her rendition of Hallelujah.

Edited 28/7 - I have to share a little bit more about the concert. It was the second of 2 concerts to celebrate the reopening of Hamer (concert) Hall. It has been upgraded with lots of new enhancements and the acoustics were amazing. They also had transparent screens as a backdrop on the stage
on which they projected pictures. During K.D.  Lang's performance, although I was totally mesmerised by her singing, I was distracted by the gorgeous patterns on the screens - they were neon graphic,
layered patterns and I found myself thinking how I could replicate the designs on cards! If only I was allowed to use my camera!
Now, back to the card. The geometric design isn't a stamp, it is a computer generated design from
Pixel Scrapper. I printed it out 3 times and then used some dye ink to colour the card.
I  then cut up the coloured card and played around it it until I was happy with the design.
The ribbon was hard to photograph as it changes colour in different lights.

Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend watching the Olympics.

I'm entering this in the Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes challenge

Runway Inspired - RIC 16

Here's a card for this month's  Runway Inspired Challenge. I've had an idea rattling around in my head
(this isn't it), but in the meantime I had a little epiphany so I thought I'd better give it a try.
So, I'm not too sure what I think of the result - maybe too much black.

I have used spellbinder die cuts and random card to make this.
I coloured the holes in the doilies with yellow copic marker.
I die cut the letters from sparkly felt. The brad is from Basic Grey
and the pearls are from Kaisercraft, coloured with Copic Markers.

Moxie Fab World - Hooked on Hexagons

I have been watching all the gorgeous cards with hexagons popping up everywhere!
I really want to get a stamp set and some dies, but I can't decide which set to go for -
they are all so gorgeous! Any recommendations gratefully accepted.
Moxie Fab World have a challenge celebrating the hexagon trend.

Anyway, because I don't currently own any stamps or dies, I hand drew
a hexagon and then cut it out (using it as a stencil) and sponged and stamped with distress inks.
I then brushed gold pearl-ex powder on the stamped image to get more
shine. Then I cut out the shapes, stuck them on the background paper
and machine stitched them on. I had fun making this card and love
the richness of the distress inks. The chipboard bird is from Collections
and is covered with Christina Re paper. I'm not sure where i got the sentiment stamp.
The damask stamp is from Judikins and the label stamp is from Pink Paislee.

Case Study - 100th Challenge!

 Case Study Challenge
are turning 100 and they are having some celebrations next month -
I look forward to that!
I love the creations of all their wonderful designers and they always hilight
wonderful artists.

This month's muse is Kristii Lockhart
and her cards are adorable!

I was inspired by the colours and the bird. I originally wanted to use some gorgeous gingham ribbon
but it didn't work out. Does anyone else ever have a product they love but it
never seems to fit in a project?

DYSU #81 - FOOD

I recently found this cute stamp set in a scrapbooking shop
and I've been  looking forward to inking it up.
So when I saw the challenge at DYSU
was FOOD, I jumped right in!

The stamp is from Dear Lizzy,
a company I've never heard of before.
I really like how it was a set of 6 stamps - so versatile and amazing value.
Although there is only one tiny item of food on this card, the jar definitely
reminds me of food!

Moxie Fab World - Happy Birthday Challenge

I have just made a quick card for the Moxie Fab , Stamp It Happy Birthday challenge.
I thought this would be fun for a teenage girl card.

Oh dear, there's no stamping on this!  Not sure if that's allowed?
Anyway the chip board and sentiment stickers are from Woollies
(discount department store) - the brand is Merci.
The black doillie tape is Christina Re and then some random ribbon
and charm from a bead shop.

By the way, yesterday I started playing around with designs for my blog and
I had a few problems, so I stopped for the moment but have lost my old layout.
The current appearance is only temporary!

Embellish Magazine - Tea Party revisited

I'm cutting it fine, but want to enter another card in the Embellish Magazine
- tea party trends

I've used a La Blanche Stamp and alpa stamps for the sentiment.
The background paper is My Mind's Eye.
Phew, made it with 15 mins to spare!
Now, I think I might have a cup of herbal tea.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Tuesday Trigger - revisited

Its's a beautiful day in Melbourne - sunny and crispy cold!
I decided to make another card for the Tuesday Trigger. I'm not usually in to making
symetrical, graphic type cards, but I decided to give it a go, but with an arty twist.

I have used random bits of card and decorated some with
liquid pearls for texture and some with silver gel pen.
It's a very literal interpretation but it was fun to do!

Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger

Yay! It's Tuesday Trigger
time! This week Cath has given a photo of a beautiful cushion
'Allegro con Brio'. The colours and texture are gorgeous.

The colours were  reminiscent of Summer
and I was inspired by the lines and triangles,
so I made a pinwheel (of sorts) using of all things
a Christmas tree stamp!

The stamp is from Kaisercraft and the sentiment and
brad are from Stampin up.

edited:I just added a second photo because I wasn't happy
with the first, but the colour isn't right in this one either!

Make it Monday #74

Another fun challenge at MIM. This week Heather Nichols showed us how to stamp on texture.
I haven't done this before, I've tried sanding, inking and even stamping on the inside of the embossing folder , but this look was a bit different and is very effective.

I don't have any Papertrey Ink impression folders, so I used cuttlebug.
The music background stamp is Kaisercraft. The sentiment,  tags and
flowers are all from Papertrey Ink. I love using B&W with a pop of colour.
I'm also entering this in the Passion for Papertrey,
which has an Anything Goes theme this week.
I'm also entering this in Lisa Somerville's Bloggers Challenge
which is B&W with a splash of colour!

Embellish Magazine - Tea Party Trends

The challenge this month at Embellish Magazine is to design a card,
layout or otp project based on a tea party and based on the colours in this photo.
Now I have an admission, I don't drink tea! Well not the real thing
from a pot anyway. I do like a herbal tea or a nice chai., but what I really
love are gorgeous china teacups and I even started collecting teapots at one stage.
I have a teapot in the shape of an old fashioned bath tub and one that like
old toaster.

I am also entering this in the LESSology Challenge #16

Bubble boy or girl. This is where I got the idea to use bubble wrap
to stamp the background on the teapot. I found a wooden teapot decoration
in a local stationary store,  I just had to have it.
When this challenge came along, I decided to decorate it.
(t was originally just plain white. )
First of all I lightly sanded it and then covered the teapot with with
some text paper, then used bubble wrap to stamp the green dots.
The script is computer generated.
I found the tags on a free scrapbooking site Miss Cutiepie.
The bird and branch are made with memory box dies  and the flowers
are made with  Dynamics mini rose. I used some old pearls and
rhinestones from Kaisercraft. I used a punch for the pink trim
and some random ribbon.

Runway Inspired - 2nd Take

I decided to make another card for the Runway Inspired Ric #17 challenge featuring Lacoste,
because I wanted to use my Hero Arts plaid background stamp. I loved this when I bought it,
but don't use it very often.

So, as I said the plaid stamp is Hero Arts, the music background
is from Pink Paislee and the sentiment is from Stampin Up.
The bird and branch die are from Memory box.

A Mojo Monday /Playdate Cafe Combo

I'm having a really crazy week! Every single card I've made this week has been made with the deadline looming! This one is only 20 minutes away! This also has an effect on the quality (or lack there of) my photo. I just don't have time to wait for the right light and set it up as I normally would! I promise I'll be more organised when school holidays end.

So without further ado...

The challenge a the Playdate Cafe is Gold/silver and nude!

So here is my card based on the Playdate colours and Mojo Monday Sketch.
The paper is Prima , Paper Chic and random. The Eiffel Tower and sentiment  stamps are from Hero Arts
The silver panel in the middle is embossed with Cuttlebug and inked with silver ink.

Tuesday Trigger - Moxie Fab World

I'm running out the door again so this is a very quick one, just so I don't miss the deadline.
 for this weeks Tuesday Trigger

I am also entering this in the DYSU challenge
which is to feature the colour RED!

Make it Monday #73

Happy Monday! I just bought some gorgeous Prima Marketing paper from
my not so local scrapbooking shop and I was dying to make a card with it.
So I decided to quickly make a card for their weeks Make it Monday
 challenge,
which is to stamp on patterned paper.

I didn't do to much stamping, but I wanted the patterned paper to be the focal point.
I stamped the Papertrey sentiment from the Back Pocket basics
on contrasting paper and outlined it roughly with pen.
Sorry about another bad photo, I'm not so good at night shots.

A Passion for Papertrey - Olympics theme

This is going to be a very quick post, because I have a very bad headache and I'm just about to take my son off to play in a chess tournament.
The theme this week at A Passion for Papertrey
is to make a card with an Olympics theme. My card is a congratulations
card for an athlete who wins a gold medal - I hope it is not to subtle.
The inside sentiment reads "Your're simply the best!"

I apologise for the very bad photo - I'll try to get
another later when I have better light so that there
isn't so much reflection.

Runway Inspired Challenge

Here is my card for this latest Runway Inspired challenge
.
I stamped a piece of white card stock with versamark and embossed with a new
powder from Allison ellis called Antique sand. Then I stamped on top of the
embossing with faded jeans distress ink and then finally with fired
brick distress ink. The stamp is from Judikins.
I then cut this card in to 2 strips and arranged them in a weaving pattern on the card
along with the blue and red card stock stops. I added some machine sticking on the blue and red card
in contrasting colours. The sentiment stamp is from Papertrey ink and I layers it on a
Spellbinders scalloped circle.

Too late for a playdate!

It's school holidays here in Australia and I seem to have lost track of time! I made this card yesterday
for the Playdate Cafe challenge
and based it on the Joy Taylor's card at the Case Study Challenge.
But I am too late for both of these challenges.

Never mind, at least I got to use some more of my own stash.

Papertrey Ink - Make it Monday

The challenge this week at Make it Monday is to make your own embellishment.
I have used PPI tag die cut and Birthday Tag stamp and die.
It's a bit hard to tell, but I stamped it twice  on orange  and pink card
and cut the pink one out to layer it. The paper is from Kaisercraft.

Embellish - telephone trend/Moxie Fab Hello

I decided to make another card for the Embellish Magazine
challenge, because I
have had this paper in my stash for ages, meaning to make a
 layout about my teenage daughter.
Anyhow, I decided to keep it CAS, so i coloured the flowers and hearts in
pink, yellow and green, stitched a border in green and coloured the pearls.
So The colours do match the challenge in a subtle way.
I then used some alphabet stamps to stamp some text talk (hak- means hugs & kisses).

I'll also enter this in the Moxie Fab hello card
comp.
