52 Christmas Card Throwdown (April Technique)

It's the last 52 CCT challenge for April and our host Branka has chosen a Technique theme, which is to highlight stamping.

I had fun stamping and water-colouring the images with Daniel Smith Watercolours and Zig Markers.
Santa's Sleigh was fussy-cut. I used some shimmer paint for the snow. If you're wondering about the texture pattern in the sky, it's from paper towel, which was a happy accident:).
Stamps: SSS Santa's Sleigh Ride

I hope you'll visit the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog to see what the rest of the team created with these colours and then be inspired to join in the challenge!

I'm also sharing my card at the following:-

Pastel Flowers and Yellow & Grey Rose (Karin Markers)

Hi there. I have a couple of cards to share today using my new Karin Markers.

The first card I used. the markers to make a watercolour card...

I stamped the floral image with a well inked Delicata Gold stamp pad and then embossed with a new aquisition, Distress Embossing Glaze (Antique Linen).  I love the way the gold sparkles under the transluscent embossing powder.  I added a touch of the Karin Marker colour and blended with a Silver Brush and water.
Stamps:Gina K Timeless P:oppies  ; Altenew Thinking of You

In the next card I used the markers to shade each layer of the flower die-cut...

The flower and leaves are from various Altenew layered die sets. The pepaer is from Kaisercraft and American Crafts.  The sentiment is from SSS.

I'm sharing at the following:-

The verdict: I'm loving these markers. I still love my Zigs, but because I frequently use my favourite colours, they seem to dry out quickly. It's nice to have new colours with the Karin Markers and it will be interesting to see how long they last. I'll let you know.

CAS Colours & Sketches #416

Hi there. It's time for another Colour themed challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge.

I was originally planning to use a white card, which looked ok, but I couldn't believe how much prettier the colours look on the black.
I coloured the die-cuts with Distress Oxide and Altenew Inks and then used a mix of embossing powders.
The butterfly was coloured with my trusty Zigs.
Stamps: Hero Arts Butterfly; Altenew Thing of You
Die: Stampin Up Forever Fern

Twofer Autumn Leaves

Hi there. I made a couple of cards for this month's Twofer Card Challenge today. The theme is 'Leaves' and since It's Autumn in Australia, I used a new (to me) stamp set to make an Autumn themed duo.

Here is a closer look at the first card.

I used my new Karin Markers, direct to stamp, to stamp these leaves and spritzed liberally with water.
I stamped the sentiment with Delicata Gold and also swiped the edges of the white panel and splattered with the ink.
In this card I stamped with the gold ink and then used water a brush to blend on the paper. Next I added highlights with the Karin markers, water and brush.

Stamp Set: Stampers Annon Nature's Wonder, Clearly Besotted (sentiment  1st card)
Die: SSS sentiment; MFT Square

Rainbow

Hi there. I'm joining in the challenge at CAS Christmas with this card...

I always think rainbow colours look good with B&W, so I used a die-cut which I'd saved from a Craft retreat and decorated the deer with a rainbow of baubles.

I bought myself a little gift this week.  A set of Karin Brushmarker Pro Markers, plus the the metallic set. I've been experimenting with them this weekend and I'm particularly finding them good for stamping. They have a different tip to Zig Markers, almost like a cross between brush and felt-tip. I'll have some cards to share soon.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge (April Reminder)

It's the 3rd Saturday of the month, so we have more inspiration for you at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The theme is 'ANYTHING GOES' or the optional twist is 'CUTE'.

I'm still on a 'Paper Piecing' kick and I've found myself reaching for patterned paper or coloured card as a background lately, which is a nice change for me.

I just love this polka dot paper I found in my scraps box - I think it's perfect for a gift box.
Stamp: Penny Black 'A Present'.

The prize for this challenge is provided by our generous sponsor:

Prize - $20 voucher!

52 Christmas Card Throwdown (April Theme)

The third Saturday of each month at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is either a theme or recipe challenge.

Branka decided to go for a theme this month and she wants to see WINTER SLEDGES on your cards.

I made the wintery scene by stamping the mountains and blending with a wet brush.  I then painted the background with Distress Oxides.  Next I stamped and fussy-cut the sledge.
The die-cut trees were painted with Altenew Metallic Paint.
Stamps: Penny Black Season's Marvel; Papertrey Ink In the Meadow
Die: Alexandra Renke

I hope you'll visit the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog to see what the rest of the team created with this theme and then be inspired to join in the challenge!

CAS Mix Up Apr '21 Reminder

Hi there. Just popping in to remind you about this month's  CAS Mix Up Challenge.

It's a Mixed Media challenge this month. Linda is our host and she wants  to see us use the 'Paper Piecing' with stamps technique on our cards.  Don't forget to keep it CAS.

To begin I embossed the white card with part of a square die to make more definition for the 'carpet'. I also embossed a line to define the 'corner of the wall'. The die-cut 'carpet' was then adhered in place.
Next I stamped the chair, dog and lampshade and fussy cut.  I stamped the chair, table and lamp on the panel and added the other fussy cut images.  To finish, I stamped the sentiment and mounted the panel on a white card base.

You can find more inspiration over on the CAS Mix Up Blog and we hope you'll be inspired to join the challenge.

CAS Colours & Sketches (April Sketch) #415

It's time for a Sketch Challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. Wei has created a fun CAS sketch for us.

I die cut the circle from white card and then stamped the Hedgie image, which I coloured with Copic Markers.  I decided to use the coloured card for a change and matt it with a black base.
Stamps: Penny Black Hedgie Friends

I hope you'll check out the CC&S blog to see what the rest of the design team and our  Guest Designer have created.  We hope you'll be inspired to make your own card, which needs to be linked to  the challenge post by 6:00 p.m. Eastern time Monday.

Slimline Pastel Florals

I had a play with my Copic Markers today. They've been neglected of late.

I used my fave SSS stamp and kept the colours soft.  I thinks this stamp is perfect for slimline cards.
Stamps: SSS Sketched Flowers.

Hi there! I'm back with another card for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. This week Branka, our host, has given us such a very elegant colour combo!

I decided to use some gorgeous patterned paper from my stash. I die cut the star and embossed it with Silver. Next I stamped and Silver embossed the sentiment and the edges of the the panels. I added a silver rhinestone in the centre.
