CASe this Sketch/Let's Get Trendy Now!3 -day1 Neon

Just a quick post as my daughter is on holidays and we have to go furniture shopping.

I finally completed a card the CASe this sketch challenge - YAY! I also found another fun challenge blog called Let's Get Trendy Now!3 and they have a series of challenges running - this one is for the neon day 1.

I flipped the sketch to the right and decided the birds would be cute coloured with neon gellatos.

Case Study #146 - Lisa Spangler

I love this beautiful card from Lisa, especially the colours, so when I saw the challenge was closing in less than 2 hours, I got my skates on! You can join the challenge here.

I love background stamps and I especially love using them with 2 shades of distress inks. I've used mustard seed for the sponged background and then stamped the Hero Arts image using Wild Honey.
The butterfly image is from Darkroom Door. I inked the stamp with broken china, chipped sapphire and spiced marmalade and spritzed before stamping. I added some glitter to the butterfly, unfortunately the glue hasn't dried yet, but I have to go out, so I apologise for that.
On the small panel I used washi tape and organza ribbon from Kaisercraft. I think the sentiment is from Prima.

A Touch of Gold! PTI blog hop and Let's Get Trendy Day3

This is the first time in ages of managed to enter a blog hop - I always seem to hear about them after the deadline. Amazingly, I made this card a few days ago and I didn't make it for any challenge but just for fun.  I found the off-cut of paper in my stash and it inspired me to make a card. So imagine my surprise when I saw that the Papertrey Ink have a challenge to make a card with a touch of gold.  Lucky I used a Papertrey Ink sentiment. You can join the fun here if you're quick. I am also entering this in the Lets Get Trendy Now!3 Day3 - homemade embellishments.

The butterfly was stamped with gold ink on shrink plastic and then I shrunk it with a heat gun - it always feel like magic when I use shrink plastic.
The rose is an earring from a discount shop, the diamante is very old from my Mum's stash, the bird is from Prima, not sure about the star, the centred of the butterfly is broken off a pin and the cameo is from a local craft shop. So I call this a serendipitous card.

Runway Inspired Challenge -Burberry Prorsum Resort

Another weekend comes to an end at this very chilly corner of the world.
I had a creative day yesterday.   I was able to channel some of those creative ideas spinning around in my head in to making a few cards I was happy with. Yay!

This card is for the current  Runway Inspired challenge. I was inspired by the colours and the gorgeous textures of the outfit.I'm also entering this in Let's Get Trendy Now!3 Day 5 - Textured Layers Challenge.

I stamped Hero Arts large flower background on the pink card and embossed with pearl embossing powder. The green panel was made from white card which was dry embossed and then inked with versa magic chalk  ink and then washed with a pearl-ex powder and water mixture. Then I added a splatter of gold glitter. This was all mounted on Kraft card to echo the background in the photo.
The gorgeous lace was a find at a craft market - I wish I got more!

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Kraft Challenge

Yay, I think I'm getting my Mojo back! This is my second day in a row of having 2 posts!

I made a classic and simple card for the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge, because as they say, sometimes 'less is more' and I hope the effect is elegant.

The background stamp is from Hero Arts and the banner stamp is Taylored Expressions.

I think that's all from me today. It's another beautiful sunny, but freezing Winter day here and I can't get warm, so I think I need to take the dogs for a strenuous walk!

More Mixy/Matchy

I thought I'd share this quote I found, not sure where, but it matches the way I feel at the moment!

Does anyone else feel like this?

And here's another one which suits my mood...
Here is another card for the MFW Mixy/Matchy challenge.
Nearly everything I have used on this card has been in my stash for a very long time (hence the above quote).

I have tried to use this paper several times, but it always seemed a bit too busy and pretty, so I decided to add some black and charcoalon my card  to grunge it up a bit. I swiped paint on the edges of the green panel and then layered some acetate , which was secured with the dragonfly and arrow brads and the birdcage from Prima.
I've used canvas for the diecuts for extra texture. I always struggle with 'the cluster' and I'm not sure I've got the balance right here. Any comments and advice are greatly appreciated!!!!

Moxie Fab World - Mixy/ Matchy challenge

This is my 2nd post for today, so just a quirky. This is for the Mixy/Matchy challenge at Moxie Fab World.

We don't have Father's Day until September in Australia, so I thought this could be a fun one for my kids to give their Dad.

Vintage Vagabond - Another Card for the Tuesday Trigger

Hi all!

I've been in experimental mode for the last week and I've had so many ideas in my head.
I have been working on quite a few of these ideas, but I keep getting stuck and don't feel happy with them, so I've put them to the side until I can come up with the perfect ending! Does anyone else have this problem? I hope I can overcome it, because my cupboard is full of unfinished projects from past hobbies. I think blogland and Pinterest help to jump start my creative juices, so I think I might find some fresh challenges.

I have managed to make another card for this week's Tuesday Trigger at MFW, because my 1st card was more graphic and I wanted to work with the vintage theme. I'm also entering it in the Mixy/Matchy Challenge. I hope you like it!

Firstly I stamped the background pattern (Penny Black stamp) on cream card in versa mark and brushed perfect pearls powder over it.  The label is from Graphic 45 - I swiped gold ink on the edges and embossed it with antique gold and then put glossy accents on the butterfly. The patterned paper is from a different Graphic 45 collection.

Moxie Fab World - Mixy/Matchy Challenge

Sounds like fun, ha?? Cath tells us that this trend is about breaking rules! Well, I like the sound of that!

When I began thinking about what I should make, I started browsing through all my paper pads, but then I thought, that would be too easy! Where would be the challenge in combining patterns from within a collection - someone else would have done the work for me. So instead I went to my box of  off cuts and started moving papers around to see what looked fun together. This is my 1st card...

I did have lots of fun making this! It always feels a bit like I'm cheating when I don't include any stamping in a card, but this is a wonderful opportunity to use up some old scraps and a journal card too!
The papers come from Heidi Grace, Bella! and Amy Tan (AC).
I'm off to see what else I can make. If you want to join in the fun, click here
.
Have a great week-end!

Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger - Vintage Vagabond

Hi there! We are having typical Melbourne winter weather this week, wet and dreary. This actually doesn't bother me, except when I try to take photos of cards.

Today I made a card for the Tuesday Trigger - it reminds me of Morocco, but this pattern also reminds me of Japan.  This is what I came up with for my 1st attempt ...

I used a very old stencil for the square pattern, sponging gold ink on to the card. Then I stamped the flower image and clear embossed the whole thing. Then I mounted the panel on black card.
I'm not sure whether I like the flower stamped with the stencil still in place, but I wanted to keep all the white lines.  What do you think?

Case Study Challenge - Lisa Spangler is the Muse!

This is a very quick post, because, well, the engine in my car has died and I have to go across town to a wreckers to get a 2nd hand engine. Warning! If there is anyone out there who is a slack as me and forgets to get their car serviced, you'd better do it soon. I've learnt the hard way and My husband is not too happy! Not to mention the fact that I could have bought a lot of crafting products with that money - and I mean a lot!!!

Oh well, I saw that the challenge at Case Study closes in a few hours and I haven't had time to think about a card, but I made this feather on the weekend with washi tape, when I was just playing around, so I mounted it on a blank kraft card and drew a border with white pen. The feather is a bit too busy, but it's just a bit of fun!

By the way, the splotches on my card are rain - oops! I took it outside to photograph, just as it started raining!
I am going to look on the bright side of the car issue - at least it didn't blow up on the way from our beach house!
So you gotta Love Life!

ETA: I'm adding this to the MFW Mixy/Matchy Style Challenge.

Moxie Fab World- TT -

It's a long weekend in Australia and I'm having a lovely, relaxing time at our beach house in Queenscliff. I brought a few crafting supplies with me and have made a card for the Tuesday Trigger at MFW.

Edited: Sorry to anyone who looked and couldn't see my card. I had technical difficulties
due to only being able to use my Iphone.

Now I am problems with pecking order for the computer - DD wants to use it.
So here is a thumbnail of card and check out my Flickr (http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/75947918@N02/8992787016/)for a better look.

I've finally been able to add another photo, but it's still not very good - the yellow always seems to be over exposed.

Moxie Fab World - Gift challenge

This is my second post for the day. I posted earlier about being Moxie Fabber of the Week, much to my surprise and excitement. If you want to see it click here for my post and here for Moxie Fab World.

I recently went to a Papercraft Fair in Melbourne and learnt how to do patchwork with paper.
You can buy complicated patterns, like quilts, but I don't have any of those yet.   I decided to decorate this box with some co-ordinating paper. I must say it's quite therapeutic and I love sewing on paper.
I went for a (very) shabby chic style. I sanded the edges and then swiped them with Picket fence distress stain.

The paper is from Kaisercraft Porcelain Rose paper pad.

Then I made a tag to go with it!
Sorry for over exposed photos!
I'm entering this in the MFW Gift Challenge and Tag Challenge.

Oh Happy Day!

I've been sitting staring at the computer screen for about 10minutes wondering what to write.
About 2 weeks ago I received an email - a special invitation - it was something I never in a million years expected to see.

Yep - that's how I feel today! Apparently I am Moxie Fab!!! Cath has really made my day, month, year!!! Check it out over here.

I want to send a huge thank you to Cath for making me feel special, for working so hard to give us endless inspiration and putting a smile on my face every day.

Here is a card I made recently when I was playing with Pebbles cream chalks...

I embossed the cream card, carefully swiped the raised pattern with with versamark ink and then
used an applicator the colour with the chalks.

Case Study#143 take 2

I loved Maille's card so much and it is her last week, so I've made a second card for the Case Study Challenge and I'd also like to enter it in the CAS-ual Fridays challenge, which is congratulations theme.

It's a very CAS, natural engagement card.
I enjoyed working with the balsa wood veneer sheet so I tried stamping on it this time. It absorbs the colour beautifully. The flower stamp is from Kaisercraft and the sentiment banner is from
Taylored expressions.

Wet weather/Crafty Saturday

Hi!  Happy Weekend.
This morning I've been taking advantage of the wet weather, 2 sleepy teenagers who are still in bed,
Husband who is at work and 2 dogs who don't like walking in the rain and have made a couple of cards.

The 1st one is for the Case Study Challenge - Maille's last week.

The background is balsa wood (wood veneer) The feathers are hand cut from Authentique paper.
I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes challenge
.

The second card is for theMoxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Feather Weather and also for the gift tag challenge.

I have used a few scraps and rejects from other projects to make this tag. The bird image is from Penny Black it is a Christmas stamp.  I'm not sure where the sentiment stamp is from. The journal card is from Kaisercraft. The flowers are punched from vellum and painted white and liquid pearls for the centre.
