Runway Inspired ric#26 - Bibhu Mohapatra

Yay, I'm back to card making! I don't have my own space for crafting, so all of my goodies have been packed away since before Christmas as we have overseas visitors. They are currently away for a couple of days, so I have pulled a few things out to try to get my mojo moving!

I've been pondering this challenge for a few days - such a stunning outfit, but for me very challenging colours. In the end I decided to have a lot of white space to echo the runway and then the star to hilight the colours and pattern.

I've used a Kaisercraft chipboard star and coloured it with Chipped Sapphire distress ink and then clear embossed with clear opals powder.
Next I heated the star again and used green opals powder on part of the star and heat set this.
The sentiment is computer generated and I used the cuttlebug and my embossing board for the background.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Wishing everyone out there in blogger land a very Merry Christmas
and may all your dreams for 2013 come true! Thank you for all your inspiration and encouraging comments.

I snapped a photo of Santa in St Kilda the other day, I think he was on the way to the beach.
It is going to be 39 degrees today, so I am trying to stay cool inside, writing lists for my Christmas preparations.

Runway Inspired Challenge Ric#25

I'm just popping in to say hi!

It's been an interesting week, since I last posted.
Last Monday I was diagnosed with a chronic lung condition called Bronchiectasis,
which is disappointing because it can only be managed not cured.
On Wednesday, my husband's Parents arrived from Scotland for a 5 weeks stay.
On Friday I had an MRI to find out what is wrong with my foot,
because although I've already had an Xray and an Ultra-sound,
nobody could agree on what the problem was and  they all gave different opinions.
Anyway, the MRI result shows I have a stress fracture!

So I currently feel like hiding myself away from everyone and just recovering.
It is lovely however to have Scott's Mum and Dad here for Christmas.

I have managed to sneak in a little time for card making so I've made a card for the latest
Runway Inspired Challenge. Check out this amazing outfit!  I'm also entering this in the Moxie Fab
World Keen on Neon challenge.

The bird is made with ribbon from a local discount shop and die cut using a Memory Box die. The branch is using
sparkly velour paper and also die cut.

These are our cute puppies! My daughter dressed them up for a photo shoot.

I think Cookie needs a haircut - he looks like the Grinch!
Leo is definitely a hat man!

Case Study/Moxie Fab Neon trend

I'm feeling a bit lethargic today after Melbourne experienced it's hottest ever November day
and hottest night in over 100 years! So I'm taking it easy and making cards!

I have made a card for the Case Study challenge
and combined it with the Moxie Fab Neon trend challenge.

This is Angeline's card we had to case

This is my card using neon cord instead of twine. I've also used the embossing in the background for added texture.

City Crafter - Christmas Eisel

I love a challenge that challenges me! The challenge this week at City Crafter is to make a
Christmas Card and it has to be an easel card. I haven't made one of these before, so I watched the video link and saw how easy it is.

The stamp is from Penny Black. I fussy cut the image (not my favourite thing to do) and stuck it on embossed white card and layered it with some decorative red paper.
The berries on the bottom section are from a christmas decoration. I used glossy accents on the berries in the main image. The sentiment stamp is from kaisercraft.

Runway Inspired Challenge RIC#24 - Elie Saab

This challenge has been running for over a year now and I have been playing along since
March. I love the inspiration I get from this challenge and seeing everyone else's interpretations.
The design team always come up with the most amazing creations.

They have just announced some new design team members and they are all awesome.

I absolutely adore the dresses in the current Runway Inspired Challenge, so feminine and
colourful, with the black adding a wow factor.

The colours reminded me of a water colour painting, so I used die inks and flicked and sprayed for the background on watercolour paper.
The sentiment is from Darkroom Door and the frame stamp is from Kaisercraft.
I them added some pearls and rhinestones for a bit of bling.
The pink peer is from American Crafts.
I'm also entering this in the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World.
I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes Challenge.

Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger

Well, I guess all the thanksgiving celebrations are over for everyone in USA, I hope you had a wonderful time with family and loved ones.

There is a feeling of Summer in the air here in Melbourne, the days are longer and sometimes I forget to send the kids (teens) to bed - oh well, only 2 more weeks until the holidays!

Here is my card for this week's Tuesday Trigger :-

I love the crocheted frames in the trigger photo - I recently got a magazine with a free crochet hook, so I am going to try to learn a few basics.
The patterned paper is from Pink Paislee, another freebie with a magazine.
I stamped the background kraft card with white ink , using the  Kaisercraft
woodgrain pattern stamp and then brushed it with pearl-ex powder, which gives it a real shimmer.
The pearl frames are from a discount art store. The sentiment and banner die are from Tailored Expression.

Playdate Cafe #158

I'm not sure why, but I haven't played at the cafe for a few weeks, I think I was a bit slow off the mark. Well this time we have 2 weeks and I'm early, so maybe ! will do another one!
Here is my 1st attempt.

The background paper is from Kaisercraft, the tag is cut with a Papertrey ink die
and the medium butterfly is from a memory box die.
The letters are from American Craft - Amy Tangerine (my favourite!)

Case Study Challenge #117

It's week 3 with Angeline at the Case Study Challenge and I just love her CAS card! I think I need those sweet little bird dies too!

I had a bit of a problem taking the photo outside - 2 curious puppies!
The stamp is from Penny Black and I coloured the image with distress ink markers on
Canson canvas paper. I really love this paper.
The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

Scrapbook Boutique/Jaygee's Nook challenges

Well it's definitely the time to get my skates on (if only my foot would get better!)  and get preparations on the go for Christmas. So I decided to make some little gifts for family as we don't buy
presents any more, but I still like to give something personal.

This is my first one, inspired by the challenges at Jaygee's Nook and Scrapbook Boutique.

I painted a small canvas with white and a touch of green lustre paint. I inked the chipboard with white ink and embossed with a pearl embossing powder. I then put glossy accents on the star and sprinkled with gold glitter.
To finish off, I added the lace around the side of the canvas.

Moxie Fab World - Another Square Punch card

I bought a couple of magazines yesterday, because they had some good freebies and the Quick Cards magazine showed how to do teabag folding. I thought the tulips looked pretty cute, so I gave it a try and this is the result.

The paper is from Echo Park 'Victoria Park' collection. To make the tulips, I punched 2 different size squares and then folded them as per the instructions in the magazine. You can find a diagram on this website.
I'm entering this in the MFW Square Punch challenge.

Runway Inspired RIC #23 _Chanel No.2

Here is my second card for the Chanel challenge:-

While I was playing around with the the ribbon, buckle and paper, my 14 yo daughter looked over my shoulder
and said "That looks like something from Chanel".
How is that for a coincidence!
I embossed black card with the cuttlebug and then swiped the card with versamark
and embossed it with sparkly black powder.
The white cord is supposed to reflect the straps on the gorgeous shoes.
The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
The red card is die cut with a nestability doilie die.

Runway Inspired Challenge RIC 23- Chanel No 1

Well the current  challenge at Runway Inspired is certainly different! As much as I love this bag, I don't think I would be taking it shopping with me, but I think it would look fantastic hanging on a bedroom wall or door!

This is my 1st card (I have another one in the next post) for this fun challenge.
I had to make a Christmas card, because I love these colours for Christmas.
The stamp is my favourite - a very old one from PSX
I can't remember which company I got the chipboard from. I coloured it with copic markers
and then covered it with glossy accents.
I used shimmer card and embossed it with my trust cuttlebug.

Case Study Challenge 116

This one is quite unusual and arty. Join in the fun here.

The images are from Kaisercraft and the sentiment is from a discount store.
I've used copics and distress inks and paint dauber.

Moxie Fab World - T T/Canvas,Cork & Burlap Challenge

I love the photo for this week's Tuesday Trigger and I thought it would suit this theme to use some burlap, so I'm entering this card in both  the T T and Cork/Canvas and Burlap Challenge.

Firstly, I stamped the cream card with Kaisercraft woodgrain background, using Versamark Dazzle and then embossed it with Zing Opaque powder. Then I  used Allison Ellis Design Sparkle n Soft flocking powder for the flowers and leaves - it has a velvety feel, but sparkles  and reminds me of felt. The ribbon is bias binding, which I coloured, crushed and frayed to match the frayed burlap.  I've coloured the berries/stamens with copic marker.
The sentiment is a very old stamp from Stylish Images and I've stamped it on My Mind's Eye paper.
The brad is from Basic Grey.
I liked this photo I took on the grass, but I couldn't avoid the shadows, soI took the top photo to show
you both aspects.

Mojo Monday 266 #2

Here is my 2nd card for this week's challenge at Mojo Monday, based on the following sketch:-

For this card, I have used paper from Authentique. The quality of their paper is just amazing! I'm in love with every one of their collections.
I used softer colours this time am I'm happy with the result. I prefer the circle part of the sketch being an image.
The balloon stamp is from Hampton Art and the sentiment is from Darkroom Door.

Mojo Monday 266 #1

I haven't participated in Mojo Monday for a while - I find sketches very challenging (which of course is the point), but I decided to have a go this week. I thought I might try different styles.

This first one is using paper from Bobunny and is quite busy, so it was a real challenge.
I've used some random sketchy sewing to compliment the stitching in the striped pattern (It probably looks a bit too messy!). i used twine as it is neutral. The sentiment is part of an Amy Tangerine sticker.

Case Study #115 take 2

Here is another card for this week's Case Study Challenge.

I coloured some gloss card with die inks and
cut them in strips and stuck them on some backing card. Then I die cut the leaf from this.
Next I die cut the leaf from the white card and used the negative for my card.
I inserted the green leaf in the negative space, but lifted the leaves for dimension.

Case Study Challenge #115/ Moxie Fab - sewing challenge

The muse this month at the Case Study Challenge
is Angeline Yong.
Her cards are always so elegant and this one we have to case is perfection!
(You should see the card she's made for this months Runway Inspired challenge!!!)

My card is made using sizzix and nestability dies for the flowers.
You probably can't tell, but the flowers fit inside each other, which I quite like intend layers for a change.
Since I have included sewing for the stems, I will enter this in the Moxie Fab World sewing challenge.
