Stencil and Stamp Layering on One Layer Card

I managed to find a bit of crafting time yesterday and a bit of mojo too - YAY! I decided to get out my hardly used distress paints and stencils and watched an old Tim Holtz video for inspiration - this is the result....

Ok this was my second attempt, I'm showing them backwards, because this is my fave. I followed the same methods and them stamped the birdsnest and sentiment from WPlus9. Je t'aime the birdsnest!!!

This was my first attempt. I masked the edges and the torn panel with low tack tape and then using the the distress paints I stencilled the polka dots and other pattern. When dry, I sponged distress ink over the entire panel and then stamped some background images. The bird is alsdo a stencilled image - although I'm not sure it really suits - I might have to add a crown to make it look less scary! The sentiment and feathers are from WPlus9. and the background stamps are from Prima.

I really loved this technique and enjoyed using the paints as an alternative to inks.  I am obsessed with collecting blue & white vintage and new home-wares for our beach house and decided to stick with blues in my cards.

I'm entering these cards in the Simon Monday (Stencil it) Challenge, A Blog Named Hero (One Layer) Challenge and Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media Challenge (Stencil)

Also, another reminder about about the Mixed Media Card Challenge - the theme is 'BEGINNINGS' - I thought my birdsnest suits the theme perfectly.

Tomorrow is a New Day!

I'm happy to say I made another card today - yay! It's a glorious day in Melbourne - mid 20s Celcius with beautiful Sunshine and a slight breeze. Tomorrow, on the other hand is going to be over 40 Celcius, so I decided to make a card with a tropical feel and colours to keep me cool!

The background wash was made with Peerless Watercolours - they are truly amazing! The foliage stamp is from kaisercraft , the butterfly from Inpired by Stamping and the sentiment from WPlus9.
I coloured the butterfly with Zig Real Clean Color Real Brush Markers and when it was dry I put a coat of Distress Crackle Paint on it to get a stained glass effect. I really wanted to add a tiny splatter of black, but didn't trust myself not to ruin the card! So I added some sequins, which are the optional element in the Mixed Media Card Challenge.
Don't forget the Mixed Media Card Challenge which goes through til 25 January - the theme is *BEGINNINGS*.

I am entering this in the Craft Stamper Take It/Make it Challenge - which is to use a stamp.

I'm also entering the Simon Wednesday Challenge where the theme is 'Something New'.

Spread the Love

Hello there. I've been feeling a bit more motivated to make cards over the last day or so, because the humidity has temporarily left us.  When it's humid my energy and therefore my mojo are totally zapped!

Today I have a reconstructed card. The tag was originally placed on a red card base, but I decided to give it new life on a white card.

I stamped the tag twice on the wood veneer with Memento Luxe Ink and then cut them out by hand. To make the wood veneer more sturdy, I put double sided sticky paper on the back before cutting. The Memento Luxe works really well on the wood veneer, because the consistency is almost like paint.

The sentiment is from STAMPlorations (one of Dee's stamp sets)and I think the tag stamp may be from Docrafts, but I'm not sure.

This is the original card - I much prefer the new version, what do you think?

I'm entering this in the Simon Monday Challenge and the  Simon Wednesday Challenge who both have the theme   'Something New' - I've used a new stamp (the sentiment) and I've made a new card from the old one.

Love You Always

Can you believe it? 2 posts in one day, after so long!

As part of my mission to make more cards in 2016, I have been going through my 'unfinished' stash and found this stencilled 'love' panel and I also noticed Casology have a new challenge, with the cue word  'SIMPLE', so I've kept this card clean and simple to fit the bill.

Happy New Year and Mixed Media Card Challenge reminder

And just like that - it's a new year! I hope you all had a wonderful festive season and are now having a bit of a catch up and getting crafty!

I'm not one for making New Year Resolutions, but I do have a very strong desire to get back to creating and blogging on a more regular basis. I won't lie - it's a real struggle - I'm going through a seriously bad creative block, but I guess I'll have to ease myself back in to it and maybe not reject so many of the things that I make.  Here is a card I made with a new (to me) Tim Holtz stamp from the Documented set.

I have used Distress markers, Distress ink pads and Zig Clean Color Markers.
I also added a bit of perfect pearls for a bit of shimmer. The map stamp is from Stamper's Annonymous,  the sentiment is from
STAMPlorations and I think the plane might be from Amy Tangerine.
