A Basket full of Sweetness

Hey there.  Just popping in with a reminder about this month's Mixed Media Card challenge.         The theme this month is 'HARVEST BASKET' and the optional element is 'FRUIT'.

I have put my own twist on the theme, because here in Australia things are warming up, so I decided to do a more Summery basket of fruit.

I made the basket by cutting up some strips of wood veneer paper and weaving them, colouring it with distress stain and then die cutting the basket shape. The striped background was made by masking the stripes with washi tape and then spraying Color Shine and then adding some splatter.  The pineapples were stamped and then fussy cut and the flowers are die-cuts, coloured with Zig CCRB markers. The stamps and dies are from Concord & 9th - love them!

You have lots of time to join in the fun - the deadline is 25 Sep and you can link up your cards here

I would like to enter this card in Darnell's NBUS Challenge no 7.  When I first saw these pineapple stamps, I had to have them immediately, but of course then they sat there neglected, just longing to be inked up. So once again Darnell has inspired me to use some 'never before used schtuff'!

I'm also entering this in Virginia's View Challenge #23 which is to use Spray Mist and splatter - gotta love that!

Harvest Time (on the other side of the world!) MMCC #27

Hi there! I know, I know it's been a looong time since my last post! I've been concentrating on our Queenscliff house renovation, which means card making has taken a back step. Hopefully I will get back to it soon!

Well it's the first day of September, which means it's the beginning of Spring in Australia, nearly time for Fall elsewhere and the start of a new challenge at the Mixed Media Card Challenge.

The theme this month is 'HARVEST BASKET' and the optional element is 'FRUIT'.

I stamped the music script, sponged the background with dye inks,  stamped the leaves and then layered the baskets of fruit which had been coloured on vellum with Zig markers. I added some splatter with the inks and then finished it with the wooden bee.

The design team have come up with some gorgeous cards to inspire you, so why don't you check them out here and then join in the fun.

ETA: I'm entering this card in the Craft Stamper Take it, Make it Challenge (Take a Stamp) and the Simon Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes.

I'm also entering the Time Out Challenge September challenge - which is to create a project inspired by these words ... “Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.”
