This is what Darnell says about her challenge ...
"The goal is to stretch your creativity as well as your stamps and dies by making two distinctly different designs using the same prompt stamp or die!
In order to stretch your design skills, try a different style with your second card! In order to stretch your schtuff, try using the prompt stamp or die in an unexpected way on your second card!"
So that is exactly what I've done!
My 1st card uses feather die cuts from an Alcohol Ink background - they are yummy and organic looking.
I used the negative of the die cut and an embossing folder to create texture. I cut this about 5 times and layered them to get the dimension and then I put the shaker together, using sequins from SSS and random seed beads. The paper is from Kaisercraft and the sentiment is from SSS. |
Use Patterned Paper - it is a watercolour pattern, although hard to tell. |
Two beauties, Jenny! The rich, neutral AI colours on the delicate feathers are gorgeous ... such a lovely sympathy card! What a fabulous feather shaker ... gorgeous texture and delicious use of the negative space ... a delight! Thanks so much for playing along with us at our inaugural Twofer Card Challenge! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThese cards are so different and spectacular! Those alcohol inked feathers look like they came right off a Canadian goose! It's a wonderful look for your sympathy card. You should feel right at home with those shaker cards because this one is fantastic! I love that you used the negative of the die, and that embossing and the bow are great details. Thank you for joining in on the fun over at Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful and creative designs using feathers, Jenny!! Love the organic look of the AI feathers. Perfect for a sympathy card. And great shaker card. I'm with you on those ... I find them very fiddly, but yours turned out so beautiful. Love the texture from the dry embossed script. Thanks for play along with us at Twofer Card Challenge. xx
ReplyDeleteTotally awesome cards! Such an amazing use of that die to produce incredibly beautiful and different results. Such talent!

What gorgeous looks you have created with the yupo for such realistic feathers! Love your ideas here, and brilliant designing on each one! TFS
ReplyDeleteBravo, Jenny! I love both of your beautiful designs and really appreciate that you have embraced the concept of my Twofer challenge! First of all, just a plain ol' WOWZA for the organic coloring on those feathers! I never reach for neutral colors like these, so thank you for the inspiration! (I need to look and see if I even have any alcoholic inks in these colors and, if not, I need to rectify that!) They look so gorgeous with your thoughtful layout of embossed chicken wire, sentiment, and sequins! And then! Another WOWZA shoutout for turning the negative die into a beautiful seed bead shaker card with lots of dimension from the e/f!! Thank you so much for playing at Twofer!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeletetwo fantastic designs, Jenny - looks like a winner to me! especially love the first card done with the alcohol inks!
ReplyDeleteAmazingly creative cards. I like that you position the layers off kilter.
