Tag You're It Challenge #45

I actually managed to make a card for a challenge today! I saw the inspiration card for the TAG You're It Challenge  on someone's blog and knew I had the right tag in my stash, so here it is!

I used a tag from my stash, which was die cut from a watercolour wash and stamped the sentiment from Justrite Stamps and clear embossed. Thank goodness for my MISTI, because I had to stamp about 10 times to get the sentiment dark enough on the watercolour paper. Next I used more of the the same wash,  stamped the butterflies, clear embossed, and then added Wink of Stellar for added shimmer. The butterfly stamps are from STAMPlorations and designed by Shirley Bampton - love them!

ETA: I just saw that the Simon Monday Challenge is all about butterflies - so I'm joining their challenge too! In fact I might have to make another card, because I LOVE butterflies!
The Simon Wednesday Challenge is to 'Make it Girlie' so I can join in there too!

Friday 8 April 2016

Hi there, I've been enjoying having the kid's on school holidays, so I've been sleeping in and have even had time to make another card! Here is a reminder about the Mixed Media Card Challenge #22 April Challenge - the theme this month is *SUNSHINE* and the optional element is *BRICKS*.

I sponged and blended distress inks and spritzed with water and perfect pearls.  I used a stencil to create the illusion of sunshine. When dry, I stamped the flourishes and white embossed. To finish I diecut the panel and matted on white and Kraft cardstock.
You have plenty of time to join in the challenge, the deadline is 25 April and you can enter here.

Mixed Media Card Challenge #22 Sunshine

Happy April Fool's Day! This is no joke though, it's the beginning of another Mixed Media Card Challenge and the theme this month is *SUNSHINE* with the option to included *BRICKS* in your project. This is what I came up with ....

Do not ask me why, but for some reason I became fixated on including a rooster in my card! To make the background I light sponged the bottom portion of the card  with Fired Brick Distress Ink and then stencilled the bricks with the same ink. Next I added more detail with Aged Mahogany. Pumice Stone and Fired Brick markers - I wanted it to look rough, like an aged country wall.  Then I sponged the rest of the card with Mustard Seed ink and stamped the sunbeams with a Darkroom Door Stamp. I wasn't that happy with the result, so I used a watercolour brush and Spiced Marmalade ink to make a more abstract effect. Next came the Rooster. I didn't have a stamp, I thought about a Silhouette cut file, but in the end I went with a free digital image from The Graphic Fairy and used TAP paper to transfer the image.  To finish, I stamped the sentiment from Concord & 9th, the machine stitching and matted the panel.

So now it is your turn to join in the fun at the Mixed Media Card Challenge - you can link your card up here and get lots more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.
