Splash Watercoloured Trees

I'm just popping in with a quick post, to catch a deadline.

I bought these MFT tree dies a while ago and hadn't used them yet, so I decided to use some splash watercolour background for the foliage.

I used a combination of distress inks, Zig markers and Wink of Stellar on the trees. The rectangle die and sentiment stamp are from Stamplorations.

Mixed Media with Concord & 9th

I'm back with my 3rd card for this month's Where Creativity Meets C9 Challenge - I've been really enjoying playing with my Concord & 9th products!

I began by stencilling with gold dimensional paint on white card stock. Next I coloured various pieces of watercolour paper with a combination of Distress Inks, Zig Markers and Brushos, using the 'smooshing' and 'splash' methods. I then die cut the leaves and butterfly and stamped the sentiment. All dies and the stamp are from Concord & 9th and the stencil is from Memory Box.

Smooshed Birthday

Hi there. I  have another Mixed Media card using Concord and 9th products.

I die cut the gorgeous hear window and then smooshed on some distress inks. Then I splattered with Zig Markers. The die cut flowers were coloured with Copic Markers, Zig Markers and Wink of Stellar. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Claire Ink. Added one diamante for bit of bling and sparkle.

I'm adding my card to the following challenges:-

Skeleton Leaf

I'm still in an Autumn frame of mind...

I stamped the leaf with Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves and when dry, coloured with Zig markers (off the palette) and added some green and clear Wink of Stellar for sparkle. The sentiment was stamped with the same ink, but I clear embossed it. I used Loll's Splash Watercolour technique on a scrap of card and die cut the butterflies.

Bright Sunshiney Days

The prompt this week at CASology Challenge is 'CLOUD'.  There are plenty of clouds here this afternoon and I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of sunshine!

I didn't have a sun die, so I had to make do with the spikey shape and I think I might 'need' to get some bigger cloud dies! I saw a few cards on pinterest  with patterned clouds and I thought that would be fun. The 'sun' die is from PTI, the clouds from MFT and the sentiment is from Avery Elle.

I like the idea of this card, but I think I will try to refine it it another card soon! I'm adding my cards to the following challenges:-

Christmas in July

It's that time of year again! I've often wondered about the origins of this celebration. I  thought it was a Southern Hemisphere tradition, because we want to celebrate in cooler months, but then I read that Americans and Europeans want to celebrate in warmer times! In truth, it's probably just the brainchild of some clever marketing person:) Anyway, it's a good excuse to have a party and even better, a great reason to make Christmas cards!

The stamps are from Stamplorations and I used Tusukineko Delicata Golden Glitz ink and Zig Markers to colour the image. The die is also fromStamplorations.

Alcohol Ink Leaves

Hi there. It's another sunny Winter's day here, so I'm almost thinking about Spring!  Then again it is Melbourne, so give it an hour and it could be cold and wet!

Just to be completely contrary to this introduction, I have an Autumn card to share!

I die cut some leaves from an Alcohol Ink background with dies from Impression Obsession.
I love the depth that the AI inks give to the leaves. The sentiment is from SSS and I added a few random sequins.

Craft Stamper GD Gig

I was very lucky to have my card chosen winner in May for the Craft Stamper Take it, Make it challenge, so as part of the prize, I get to be a Guest Designer this month.

The theme is as always, Anything goes, as long as there is stamping included in the project. Here is my card...

I stamped the butterfly on a an Alcohol Ink background, highlighted randomly with white gel pen and fussy cut.
Then I cut a piece of black cardstock and added a border with white gel pen and mounted the butterfly. To finish, I mounted the black panel and die cut sentiment on a white card.  The stamp is from Stampers Annon and is one of Dina Wakely's Scribbly Insects.

Thank You to Craft Stamper for giving me this GD Spot! I love Craft Stamper Magazine, because it highlights so many wonderful techniques. You should pop on over to their blog and see more inspiration from the DT and enter for your chance to win a prize or have your creation published in the magazine and be featured on their blog:)

Missing You (bears)

Here is a card I made, using up a die cut I brought back from our Craft Retreat in April. I thought it would fun to colour it and add some bears.

I coloured the images and die cut wit Zig markers - scribbling on a mat and picking up the colour with a wet brush.
Next, I smooshed some Distress inks on some card for the background. The Bears are from Mama Elephant, the sentiment from Altenew and the die is from simon Says.

Penny Black Blossoms

Hi there. It's the first Saturday of the month, which means it's time for a new challenge at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

The theme is 'ANYTHING GOES', with an optional twist if you wish 'BABY'. Well I really couldn't find anything suitable for a baby in my PB stash, so I'm going with Anything goes this month.

I've been seeing lot's of cards in blogland, using this gorgeous stamp so of course, I had to have it:)
It's called 'Blossom Branch' and I used Zig markers directly on the stamp, spritzing with a bit of water and stamping repeatedly until I was happy. I did use a wet brush to blend a bit more on the stamped image. The sentiment is from PB 'Sentimental' and was stamped and gold embossed. The dies are from Papertrey Ink.

I hope you will pop over to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog to get inspiration from  the rest of the DT and then you can play along and link up your card here.

More Monochrome Blues

I won the prize at A Blog Named Hero last month and received some goodies this week. I've used one of the beautiful stamps to make this card.

The stamp set is called Hero Florals Rose Stem and I decided to make another monochrome card, inspired by my blue and white dinner set.  I stamped with Versa Fine Clare Twilight and coloured with Zig Markers. The coverplate is from Kaisercraft. The backing card is blue to match and I used Arches 300gsm Hot Press Watercolour paper.

Splish, Splash!

Here is a card I made using the splash watercolour technique. What is that I hear you ask? Well to find out more, check out the CAS Watercolour Challenge this month and there is a link to a video by Loll Thompson.

Now, I am a fan of the Smooshing technique, which is basically to 'smoosh' your paper around on whatever wet medium you are using. The Splash watercolour method is similar, but involves more pouncing and you end up more of a splattered look. Well, that's how I interpret it anyway.
Actually, I think I usually combine these methods. Check out a card I made here.

I used Distress Inks and Distress Oxides for the Splash background. The die is from Memory box and the sentiment is from Altenew.

Monochrome Blues

When i saw the inspiration photo for this month's Altenew Challenge,  my first thought was to do something other than florals. So after a search through my Altenew stamps, this is what I came up with...

The stamp set is Halftone Circles. The sentiments are from this set and Label Love.
I used Memento Inks and silver embossing powder.

Honey Bears Having Fun

As promised, I have another card, featuring another of my favourite bear stamps.
This stamp set is called Curious Forest Friends and is from WPLUS9. I stamped the log twice to get extra length and coloured all the images with Zig CCRB Markers. I have used a natural colour card, rather than white as I thought it suited the scene and colours.
