Cool Chicks

Today I managed to make a few cards and I really wanted to play in the Twofer Card Challenge, so I broke out my first ever Paperartsy stamp, which is a cute & wacky bird!

I haven't played with my Copic Markers for months, so it seemed like a good time to use them on this card, but I  am definitely out of practice!

(Encouragement Card)

I used Zig Markers for this card and I'm happier with result.

The bird stamp is Paperartsy Zinis ZN22 and both sentiments are from Hero Arts. The die used in the first card is from Stamplorations and I've used Papertrey ink for the card ands MFT/Dienamics for the black panel on then second card. I used Kaisercraft paper on the first too.

I'm back to remind you about the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The theme  is SOMETHING NEW or if you prefer, ANYTHING GOES.

I've gone with Anything Goes this time...

This is a very versatile Penny Black Stamp called 'Restful'. I stamped with Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves and clear embossed. Then I used distress inks and water to paint a light wash.

Snow Fun

Hey there!  I have another card to share for the CAS Christmas Challenge, because the theme is 'Blue &Silver', which is such a pretty combo.

I masked some snowy hills and sponged the sky, adding splashes of water and some shadows.

I then stamped and silver embossed  the silver trees (Penny Black), sentiment (Hero Arts)  and the child on the sled (Papertrey Ink). I also silver embossed the edge of the panel.

Bokeh Effect

I'm sharing a card I made for the CAS Mix Up Challenge. The theme is *BOKEH*. 

I sponged the background with various green and blue Distress Inks, spritzed and dried.

Next I made some circle stencils with dies and yupo and sponged white pigment ink randomly 

 over the background. I then framed this background with a MFT die. The flower die is from Memory Box and the sentiment stamp is from Inspired by Stamping.

CAS Stencil Challenge Debut

Hello there. Have you heard about the new  CAS Card Challenge - it's all about playing with STENCILS, learning new techniques and using different media with stencils.

Like all CAS challenges, it's important to keep your entries 'Clean and Simple', which means leaving lots of 'white' space on your card.

I used Distress Inks(Pine Needles,Evergreen Bough, Pistachio) to sponge through the Memory Box stencil.  To get an Ombre effect,  I pressed heaviest with the darkest colour, getting lighter with each colour to fade away. I swiped the mixed blue inks, DI & Zig Markers, on the craft sheet, spritzed and smooshed and then die cut 2 butterflies for a movement effect.

I was inspired by the colours of a new top I purchased.

Winter Blues

I'm back to remind you about the CAS Watercolour Challenge. The theme this month is winter and I had some fun smooshing and splashing!

I found it a bit challenging getting the colours right  in the photo and showing the silver embossing, but I hope it looks ok. 

I used a mix of blue Distress Inks and Zig Markers for the background. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations, the snowflake is an old magazine freebie and the frame die is from MFT/Dienamics.

Fusion Birthday Celebration

I was delighted to be asked by Lyndal of  Ideas and Paper fame, to be her guest at the Fusion Card Challenge, where they are celebrating their  5th Birthday - Congrats!!!

I was inspired by the photo and loosely followed the sketch...

I began by swiping some distress inks on my craft sheet, spritzing with water and then smooshing  a piece of white Bristol Card on the ink. I did each colour separately and dried between layers. I then added a splatter of orange. The next step was to die cut this sheet and another piece of white card, so that the border would be white.  There is some orange peeking out from under the centre butterfly. I die-cut the banner with co-ordinating smooshed card and stamped the sentiment, which is from Inspired by Stamping. The die is from SSS.

I'm so glad Lyndal asked me to be her guest - she knows how much I love butterflies!

New Stash

Welcome to the start of a new challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The theme is *NEW*, which of course has many interpretations, or  you can stick with *ANYTHING GOES*.

I've used a 'new to me' stamp, Flower Lanterns, which I fell in love, after seeing lots of cards in blog land.

I used markers to colour directly on the stamp, spritzed with water and stamped. I repeated this process several times and then touched up the image with marker, ink and wet brush.

The sentiment die is from Lawnfawn.

Happy New Year!

Hello there. I hope you all had a wonderful Festive Season and that 2019 brings lots of special moments!

A new challenge has begun at CAS Watercolour and the theme is *WINTER*.

It's not winter where I come from, but it's been quite mild so far this Summer, so I'm happy about that.

I swiped Distress Ink over the raised part of an embossing folder (where I wanted the colour) spritzed the ink, carefully placed the paper in the folder and then embossed.  I used Canson Bristol paper, which worked really well. I tried this several times, with different colours and got some really pretty results, but decided the monochrome suited the winter theme best. I added the stamped bird for a pop of colour and the sentiment to finish.  The embossing folder is from Stampin Up, the bird stamp from Hero Arts and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink.
