Mixed Media Blooms

I decided to have a play with some new stencils I received from STAMPlorations and this is what I came up with.

I will list my steps to make it easier to follow.
1. I used the shutters stencil with acrylic paint and acrylic ink  and my Gelliplate
2. Using the Happy Flowers stencil I added embossing paste
(Let dry)
3. mixed up some glass beads medium with gold acrylic ink and perfect pearls and added to centre of flowers
(let dry)
4. coloured petals with Liquitex acrylic ink
5. made a spray with the same acrylic ink and water and sprayed background lightly
6. cut panel and matted with gold panel
7. embossed white card and die cut butterflies then put it all together
8. added a sprinkle of sequins and pearls

I splurged on a portable light studio the other day and have used it to take this photo - what do you think? 

I would like to enter this card in the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge - the theme is *Flowers* and the Inkspirational Challenge where the theme is to use at least 3 of these 4 elements Distressing, Flowers, Embossing, Pearls.  My elements are Flowers, Embossing paste and pearls (perfect pearls, pearlised paper and pearls).

More Geometrics

Well yesterday I mentioned I would have another geometric card to share for the Winnie & Walter The Gossip Column challenge #2 and here it is.

This is my masculine version! I used the same stencil as I used for the feminine car I posted yesterday, but this time I sponged a bit of distress ink, spritzed with Dylusions ink and then sprinkled some Brushos over it. It looks very organic, doesn't it? I made the sentiment with the W&W The Big, The Bold & The Happy digital file and then stamped the the 'friend' from the stamp set.

Geometric Florals

Hi there. It has been a bit quiet here on my blog, but I do have a new card for you today and maybe even more later.

Have you seen the fabulous feature over at Winnie & Walter - The Gossip Column written by Taheerah? She is so clever and creative and I love the research and spin she puts on the trends we see in the Papercraft world.  This month it's all about Geometric shapes and patterns. Here is my take ...

If you visit my blog regularly, you may have heard me admit I have trouble with Geometric cards, because I never seem to get things straight. So my way of including geometric elements is to go artsy! I used one of the free digi elements from W&W and made a stencil with my Silhouette and spritzed it with Color Shine.  The flowers and sentiment are from The Big, The Bold and The Extra. I do love florals contrasted with graphic lines! 

The theme at City Crafter is Focus on Flowers, so I'm playing there too!
ETA: I'm also entering the Inkspirational Challenge, where they have a fun theme - 
Recipe - Use at least 3 of these 4 elements: Distressing, Flowers, Embossing, Pearls.
I have used Distress Markers, Flowers and embossing.

City Crafter Challenge

A Vintage Garden

I made a card yesterday, inspired by 2 things. Firstly, I saw that Pamelia has started a new Mixed Media challenge and the theme is A Vintage Garden and secondly I just happened to come across this girl in some scraps of book paper, so it seemed it was meant to be!!!

I discovered Pamelia's inspiring blog because she has been playing at the Mixed Media Card Challenge and always enters to most gorgeous creations. I adore and admire the way she layers so many elements effortlessly - this is not one of my strengths. However, I thought I'd give it a go and play along  for the fun of it! The name of the challenge is Anything but Cute Mixed Media Challenge.

I began with a piece of Bobunny paper and stamped some CASual Friday vine leaves around the edge and some vintage script with stamps from Prima.  I fussy cut the girl, inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink and then painted it with clear gesso. The chipboard gate from Scrapware was painted with antique white paint, distress paint and then stained with Vintage photo. When it was dry, I painted it lightly with Crackle Paint. The pink flowers were made with die cut book paper and then coloured with distress paint and Color Shine. The ribbon flowers were spritzed with a touch of Color Shine and I also sprayed a little bit on the background and girl's skirt. The leaves are cut with the co-ordinationg CASual Friday's die. The butterflies were fussy cut from the co-ordinating DP. edges inked and painted with crackle paint. I then monted the panel on card coloured with Vintage Photo and Walnut Distress Stains. 

So what do you think? It's certainly not my 'normal' style, but I had fun making it!

I have used Coral Color Shine and Abandoned Coral Distress Marker, so I can enter the Simon Monday Challenge 'don't abandon the coral.'
I discovered another challenge called Country View Challenge and the theme for May is 'Simply Scenic', so I thought my little scene would be perfect for this challenge.

EtTA: I just remembered I meant to enter this in the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge - the theme is *flowers*.

Foiled!

I practised adding some foils to images yesterday, because the Mixed Media Card Challenge has foil as an optional element this month. I didn't include it in my first card, but thought I should have a bit of a play. This is my 1st attempt and I will have more to share very soon.

I took some designer paper and spritzed some Color Shine and Dylusion sprays  over it to make it a pretty,  bright home for my shiny butterfly.  I stamped the butterfly  on to black card using a tacky glue and then rubbed really hard on both sides. Then I ran it through a laminator, inside a piece of paper. It's not perfect, but hey,  that's the beauty of Mixed Media! Then I added  the metal embellishment rto the butterfly and the STAMPlorations sentiment.

Mixed Media Card Challenge

It's May! Yes today is the first of the month and you know what that means - the beginning of another Mixed Media Card Challenge! We had so many beautiful entries last month, full of gorgeous blooms!

This month's theme is 'WINGS', which is lucky for me, because I find it hard to make a card without adding a butterfly or a bird! The difficult part is that I have so many to chose from!The optional element is foil, which I didn't manage to include this time, but will try for next time!

This is another Gelliplate creation. I placed the STAMPlorations mask on the Gelliplate and then brayered some  red and yellow paint  over the mask. With the mask still in place I pressed a honeycomb patterened pot holder over the rest of the paint and then pulled my print. Once dry, I stamped the butterflies and coloured some with a distress marker.
I then cut the panel and sponged black soot distress ink around the edges.  Then I stamped, coloured and fussy cut  2 more butterflies and covered them Ranger Crackle Paint.   All stamps  and the mask are from STAMPlorations.

Happy Blooms and Happier Mail!

Hey there. It's Friday evening here in Australia and I've just been to the Post Office to pick up a little gift I bought myself! I was feeling a bit down the other day and decided retail Therapy would help!

But before I get to that, I have a card to share for the Muse Card Challenge.

I was inspired by the gold embossed daisies, but decided to use silver instead.  I began by using Geliplate print I'd made last week with a Stamploration's stencil. Then I stamped and embossed the daisies and added the pink, using my new Abandoned Coral distress marker. It has a very painterly look, which is what I was aiming for. The butterfly is a Poppy Stamps die-cut, which I silver embossed. The stamps  are also  from  Stamplorations.

I'm also entering the Simon Monday Challenge and the Simon Wednesday Challenge which both have an Anything Goes theme this week.
