Encrusted Jewell Technique

Don't you just love a challenge that encourages you to 'revisit' old techniques and pull out supplies that haven't been used in a long while!

The CAS Mix Up challenge this month is 'Layered Embossing Powders', so I went searching in the back of my wardrobe for some thick embossing powder, mine is the Australian equivalent of UTEE. Next, I looked through my stash of wooden embellishments and found a butterfly. This is what I made...

To make the butterfly, I inked it with distress oxide ink and then clear embosed it. Then, whilst still hot I added some glitter and seed beads. Then I wiped versamark over the whole piece and sprinkled with thick embossing powder and heating until it melted. I repeated this step 3 times until it was glossy and evenly distributed over the butterfly. I then stamped the vine leaf and sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays using Zig markers. I added the splatter for an artsy look:)

For videos on how to do this technique, visit the CAS Mix Up Challenge blog - they have links to some good videos

I'm entering the following challenges:-
