Be Brave

Today I'd like to share a card I made using some 'new to me' products as well as some old.

This card was inspired by my feelings of sadness for the loss of so many beautiful creatures during our horrific bushfires.

I die-cut the birch tree background and used it as a stencil, firstly brushing distress inks and then spritzing and sprinkling Nuvo  Shimmer Powder over the inked area.
(Hint: I used a paper towel to mop up excess liquid and a brush to blend)

Next I stamped the CUTE owls and sentiment from Stamplorations. To finish I matted the panel with a white card base and die-cut frame from Mama Elephant.

First Christmas Card of 2020

You can always tell the Holiday Festivities are over when Hot Cross Buns appear in the shops! However, it's never too early to start making Christmas cards:)

Here is a card for this month's CAS Christmas Card Challenge...

This is very straight forward. I used an old embossing folder for the base card and Hero Arts tag die. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

More Tulips (PBSC reminder)

Hi again! Just popping in to remind you about this month's Penny Black Saturday Challenge.
It's 'Anything Goes', or if you like 'Something New'.

This is actually a card I made a couple of months ago, but didn't share. I stayed at our beach house longer than expected and my Penny Black stamps were at home.

The tulips were stamped and water coloured with Zig Markers and Distress Inks. I then fussy cut the bouquet and mounted on the patterned paper and die cut the tag. The stamps are Penny Black 'Tulip Bouquet' and 'Banner Sentiments'.

The prize for this challenge is provided by our generous sponsor

Prize - $20 voucher!

CAS Stencil - 1st Birthday

Hi there. I have a couple of cards to share today for CAS Stencil Challenge. They're are celebrating their 1st Birthday and have a couple of prizes to give away.

The theme is to 'USE A NEW STENCIL' I used a new (to me) stencil from Kaisercraft.

On the first card I sponged some Distress Ink through the stencil, then spritzed and sprinkled various shades of blue Brushos over the stencil.  The sentiment is from SSS.

For this card I used dimensional paint over coloured card stock. The sentiment and the butterfly stamp are also from Kaisercraft. I was inspired by Cathy's card and 'cased' her layout.

Congrats on a wonderful first year Loll and team - your creations are always inspiring and I love playing along with each challenge.

New Stamp/CAS Card

Hello there. It's the first Saturday of the month so that means it's a new challenge has begun at Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

The theme is as always ANYTHING GOES or the optional twist SOMETHING NEW.

I decided to us a new (to me) stamp set called Tweet Wreath.

I stamped the wreath and bird with Distress Inks and Zig Markers and then added more depth with the markers and wet brush. When dry, I fussy cut and 'dissected' the wreath and arranged across the base of the card. Next I  fussy cut the bird and mounted with dimensional tape and stamped the sentiment.

Cool Colours Watercolour

Welcome to a new year with CAS Watercolour Challenge. I love making watercolour cards and feel so blessed to be on this team! The theme for our first challenge of 2020 is Cool Colours and our host is Bonnie.

I decided to use Bristol Cardstock, because it is whiter than most watercolour paper and therefore a good base for cool colours.  I stamped and coloured the images using Zig Markers and Twinkling H20s.
The stamp set is called 'Lotus Love' from Stamplorations ( Dee's Artsy Impressions).
The rectangle die is from MFT and the sentiment from Lawn Fawn.

Here is a sample of Cool Colours...

We have Chrissie Stokes Guest Designing for us this month and you can see her wonderful card and more inspiration from our Design Team over at the CAS Watercolour blog.  I hope you'll join us in this challenge:)

Partial Die-Cutting

Hello there! It's a New Year and that means we're starting our first Cas Mix Up challenge for 2020!
Hideko is our host this month and she chose 'Partial Die-Cuitting' for the theme.

There are some links to videos in our blog post, to help you try various ways to do this technique.

Partial Die-cutting, stamping, Watercolour blending on stamp, sequins

I was determined to make a tri-fold card and I had some massive failures! However, this is actually a very easy and logical technique. I can only say it must be easier if you have lovely flat plates and not badly warped ones like mine!

I began with a piece of white card stock 11in x 41/2 in.
I drew 3 pencil lines at 2 3/4 intervals. I stamped the first leaf overlapping the first line and then partially die-cut. I then stamped the rest of the images and sentiment, making sure nothing overlapped the other lines.  The next step was to score the card and erase the lines. I decided to add the border and sequins to make it more balanced.

Stamps: WPlus9 Autumn Leaves; Mama Elephant Basic Borders; Concord & 9th Beautiful Branches
Die: WPlus9 Autumn Leaves.

Our Design Team and Guest Designer, Tristan from Tinstar Designs, have some wonderful inspiration for you at our blog. I hope you have time to play along and you can enter the challenge here.
