Navy and Turquoise

Today  I'm playing along in the second challenge at Color Hues.   It'a very yummy colour combination...

I used an new (to me) stencil from Altenew and a combination of Distress Inks and Altenew Inks.
The stamp is ancient. It was one of my first stamps from a now defunct Australian company.

Hi there. I'm just popping in to remind your about our current  Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

Our theme is ............. ANYTHING GOES or Optional twist: Use your FAVOURITE COLOURS.

This time I chose to use one of my fave Distress Ink colours - Worn Lipstick.

Sponged card-stock with Antique Linen Distress Oxide
Stamped PB 'Botanical Notes' on 2 corners with Antique Linen Distress Ink
Stamped another old PB stamp with script in other corners.
Stamped PB 'Soft Wings' on white card with Worn Lipstick & Victorian Velvet and fussy cut.
Stamped sentiment with Victorian Velvet and inked edges with Worn Lipstick

We are so lucky to have the talented Bonnie, from Stamping with Klass as our Guest Designer this month!

A Touch of Purple

A couple of weeks ago I saw some cards which used Tim Holtz's Flower Jar and I just knew i had to own it!!!  Luckily Scrapbook.com are very quick in sending packages to Australia, compared to other companies I wont name and yesterday it arrived. So I celebrated by making this card...

I stamped the lavender sprig twice on the base card and coloured with Zig Markers. Next I stamped the flower 3 more times as well as the jar and then coloured and die-cut the images.
A craft knife was used to cut a slit in the middle of the lid and thread the stems through.  The stems were drawn by hand in the jar.

Stamps: Stampers Anonymous  Flower Jar; SSS Sketched Flowers (sentiment)
Dies: Tim Holtz Sizzix Flower Jar

Pretty Paper & Die-Cuts

I very rarely use Patterned Paper on my cards these days, but I was inspired by the theme at Seize the Birthday, which is to use die-cuts, to finally use this coveted paper from Kaisercraft.

I layered the 'Happy' die-cut to give a bit of shadow.
Dies: Paper Rose Studio Happy Stitched Border; Penny Black Butterfly
Stamp: TBA
Designer Paper: Kaisercraft Magenta

Embossing with Dies (CAS Mix Up reminder)

Hi there. Just popping in to remind you about this month's  CAS Mix Up Challenge.
It's a Mixed Media challenge this month. Joanna is our host and she wants us to 'Emboss with Stencils'.  Don't forget to include stamping on your card, one other mixed media element and keep it CAS.

I used the leaf die to cut a window in the white card. I then embossed the leaf on a smooshed background. I used Distress Inks and Cosmic Shimmer Powder.

You can find more inspiration over on the CAS Mix Up Blog, along with some links to videos.

Christmas Bells

When I saw the colour combo at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, I thought of the Penny Black bells...

I stamped the bells with Ripe Persimmon and Dried Marigold and then when dry, I stamped again with a touch of Delicata Gold.  In real life, they look rusty.  The border and sentiment were stamped in black and then I decided some black bows and gold sequins would bling it up a bit.
Looking at it now, I think I should have done the 'twine' in black. What do you think?
Stamps: Penny Black Jingle Bells, Brush Cones; Mama Elephant Basic Borders
