CAS Challenge Reminders

I'm here to share more inspiration for our CAS Mix Up & CAS Watercolour Challenges.

First up ... CAS Mix Up

Linda is our host this month and she wants us to use Gesso as a resist.

Gesso Resist/Stencil/Distress Oxides/Heat Embossing and Stamping

I really had fun making this! I haven't used Distress Oxides. for  awhile and I'd forgotten how pretty and chalky they are. They worked well with this technique.  I then stamped and heat embossed the image and sentiment, which are from an old Flourishes stamp set.

Pooja is our wonderful Guest Designer this month.  The challenge is open until 24 May. I hope you'll visit our blog for more inspiration and to join in the challenge.

Now for CAS Watercolour...

I'm hosting this month and I've chosen 'Night Sky' as the theme.

I stamped the mountains from Penny Black 'Season's Marvel' and clear embossed. Next I painted a light wash, let it dry and  then a darker wash. I used paper towel to remove colour for the moon and when it was dry I touched it up with white Gansai Tambi and splattered more paint for the stars. I added some shading to the mountains.

We have the talented Tina as our Guest Designer this month.  The challenge is open until 24 May. I hope you'll visit our blog for more inspiration and to join in the challenge.

This is our last CAS Watercolour Challenge. Starting next month, CAS Mix Up is changing it's challenges to include mixed media along with stencil and watercolour.

I'm sharing my Night Sky card at the following challenges:-

  13. Both cards are fabulous, Jenny!
Love that the chalky pastel colors and the not-pure white gesso text are well blended in the background. The contrast between the soft background and the sharp shiny black flower image is so cool. The little black thread accent is a nice touch too.
Your night sky is so beautiful and I love the shading of the mountain. I feel like I'm looking at the scene from the window of my tent in a camp ground. :-)
