First up ... CAS Mix Up
Linda is our host this month and she wants us to use Gesso as a resist.
Gesso Resist/Stencil/Distress Oxides/Heat Embossing and Stamping
I really had fun making this! I haven't used Distress Oxides. for awhile and I'd forgotten how pretty and chalky they are. They worked well with this technique. I then stamped and heat embossed the image and sentiment, which are from an old Flourishes stamp set.
Pooja is our wonderful Guest Designer this month. The challenge is open until 24 May. I hope you'll visit our blog for more inspiration and to join in the challenge.

Now for CAS Watercolour...
I'm hosting this month and I've chosen 'Night Sky' as the theme.
I stamped the mountains from Penny Black 'Season's Marvel' and clear embossed. Next I painted a light wash, let it dry and then a darker wash. I used paper towel to remove colour for the moon and when it was dry I touched it up with white Gansai Tambi and splattered more paint for the stars. I added some shading to the mountains.
We have the talented Tina as our Guest Designer this month. The challenge is open until 24 May. I hope you'll visit our blog for more inspiration and to join in the challenge.
This is our last CAS Watercolour Challenge. Starting next month, CAS Mix Up is changing it's challenges to include mixed media along with stencil and watercolour.

Two beautiful cards Jenny. I especially love the first. The simple black stamp over that gorgeous background truly is the perfect combo. xx
ReplyDeleteYour gesso resist script is beautiful with the watercolouring over top. The image in black is gorgeous. Great design! Your night sky is amazing. I love the shading of the mountains, and the ombre effect of your night sky. That moon is perfect! xx

The gesso technique has worked beautifully Jenny and what a stunner of a card. Gorgeous night sky and a lovely sentiment too on your second card x.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fabulous, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteLove that the chalky pastel colors and the not-pure white gesso text are well blended in the background. The contrast between the soft background and the sharp shiny black flower image is so cool. The little black thread accent is a nice touch too.
Your night sky is so beautiful and I love the shading of the mountain. I feel like I'm looking at the scene from the window of my tent in a camp ground. :-)
Hideko xx
Two lovely cards Jenny! Your flower stamping is just beautiful on your gessoed card - so pretty with the black over the light blue and text! and your night sky is lovely with the mountains and framed in the circle. The sentiment you used is perfect with it! xx
