Sparkly Christmas

Just popping in with a quick post. I was inspired by the pretty photo at the current Time Out Challenge and used all 3 new Mini Snowflake Stamps from Altenew.

I was inspired by the colours and sparkle!
I used an Altenew Stencil and Embossing Paste, which was then heat embossed with Recollections Vintage Mint. The Snowflakes were white embossed on Vellum and fussy-cut. Then I matted the card and sentiment with silver glitter paper and added some gems for extra bling.

Embossed Waxed Paper Resist Technique

Hi there Crafty Friends! I recently watched Gina K video tutorial using Wax Paper,  Embossing Folders and an iron. It looked like fun, so today I gave it a try.

I made a Twofer because I put the Wax Paper inside a folded card to get 2 resist panels. I used the full panel on one card and a die-cut frame on the other.

My starting point was the Altenew Inspiration Challenge which features gorgeous, colourful Autumn leaves. I incorporated the colours and leaves in my cards, but I must admit they look more like Summer than Fall:)
This is the Embossing Folder I used...

So this card features the EF twice - once to emboss the white card and secondly for the emboss resist frame. I used Distress Inks and Altenew Blending tools. The bird was coloured with Altenew 24 pan Artist Watercolour Paints. As I was constructing the card, I decided to make it a Shaker just for fun!

I wanted to show more of the emboss resist pattern, so for this card I added a slim border and the white on black embossed leaves and sentiment.

Supplies used:
Altenew Floating Foliage EF
Altenew Parrot Paradise Stamp Set
Altenew Leaf Canopy Stamp Set
Altenew Leaf Clusters Stamp Set

Mama Elephant Scallop Frame Die

ALTENEW PAIR-A-FLOWER: WATERCOLOR EDITION CONTEST (ENTRY #3)

Happy Sunday! I have one last card to share for the Altenew Pair-A-Flower: Watercolor Edition Contest. Our Neighbours have the most amazing Magnolia tree which I admire every year. Unfortunately they're away and I didn't want to help myself without asking, but I managed to obtain a less impressive bloom for the photo.

I saw a picture on Pinterest of a Magnolia with a Hummingbird, (see below) so I have based my design on this photo.
I masked the edges of the water-color panel and painted a wash with lovely Spring colours. On a separate piece of paper I stamped the flowers, heat embossed in white and hand sketched the branches. They were then coloured with Altenew 24 Artist Water-color Paints. The Hummingbird was embossed with Silver Pearl and coloured with Altenew Metallic Water-color
paints.
Stamps: Altenew Magnolias For Her, Dazzling Dahlias

Just to remind you, in this Altenew contest you need to create a project with any Altenew floral design andWATERCOLORING MEDIUMS. Pair it with the same flower in real life or a similar floral design and photograph the two side-by-side.

Altenew Pair-A-Flower: Watercolor Edition Contest (entry #2)

Hi there! Well I'm very happy one of our Bearded Iris plants popped up a bloom this week. It's not in great condition, due to rain and it was very close to the ground, but at least you get the idea!

I recently purchased the Altenew Iris Outline Stamp set and I am loving it! I've made lots of cards and this is the one I've chosen to enter the Altenew Pair-A-Flower: Watercolor Edition Contest.

I used Altenew 24 pan Artist Watercolors and Metallic Watercolors. I mixed the 2 for the background wash and splatter.

Just to remind you, in this Altenew contest you need to create a project with any Altenew floral design andWATERCOLORING MEDIUMS. Pair it with the same flower in real life or a similar floral design and photograph the two side-by-side.

52 CHRISTMAS CARD THROWDOWN (TECHNIQUE SEP'22)

It's the last challenge of the month at 52 CCT challenge and our host Rossi, wants us to  make 'POP UP ' cards for the Technique Challenge.

I'm very challenged by these type of cards, but I do have a pop-up box die from Lawnfawn and  this is what I made...

I thought it would be fun to make an Aussie themed card, so I fussy cut the critters from Designer Paper and decorated the box with the co-ordinating paper.

The sentiment die is from Penny Black.

I hope you'll visit the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog to see what the rest of the team created with these colours and then be inspired to join in the challenge!

Altenew September 2022 Enchanted Winter Collection Release Blog Hop

I'm so excited to be joining in the   Altenew September 2022 Enchanted Winter Collection Release Blog Hop and I have lot's of cards I really enjoyed creating to share with you today.  You should have arrived here from Agnieszka Malyszek's (aka AGA) blog, if not, you can start at the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog, where you will see Tenia's gorgeous creation.

First up I have used Berried Cotoneaster 3D Embossing Folder

This is such a beautiful Embossing Folder and it is very versatile. I chose to use black cardstock and Altenew Metallic Watercolour Paints. The sentiment is from Altenew Festive Poinsettia.

*******************
In the  next card I have used Gem Pattern 3D Embossing Folder. I've been waiting with anticipation for this release because I can see myself using this Embossing Folder a lot.

I made a background with Altenew Metallic Watercolours and Nuvo Shimmer Powder. When dry I dry embossed the panel. I decided to use a black & white image to make the background shine.
The flower is from Altenew Sparkle Bright and the sentiment from Magnolia & Blooms.

Another beautiful Embossing Folder in this release is Intricate Tiles 3D Embossing Folder

I  used the de-bossed side of the embossed panel and swiped Gold ink over it. The Purple backing card is shimmer card, so it's a very sparkly card. The die-cut leaves were made with
Altenew Fantasy Floral 3D Die Set.

I have another amazing Embossing Folder to share... Poinsettia Cluster 3D Embossing Folder

I chose to colour the Poinsettias with Altenew Artist Watercolor 24 pan set and Altenew Metallic Watercolour Paints.  The sentiment is from Altenew Festive Poinsettia.

*******************
Next up is a stencil set which is going to be fantastic for backgrounds and more ... Blooming Flower Bed Stencil Set (3 in 1)

I just used part of the background for this CAS card and paired it with the gorgeous Hummingbird from Altenew Magnolia & Blooms.

This time I used Altenew Inks to create a more muted background.  Isn't it a great stencil set!

Altenew have also released some stencils to co-ordinate with previously released Embossing Folders.
Gentle Butterfly Simple Coloring Stencil Set (3 in 1)

The Card Concept Challenge #180

Hi there Crafty Friends! It's time for the second challenge challenge of the month at The Card Concept

For those of you who are new to our challenge, every two weeks we will post our inspiration photo challenge and hope that you will join us by creating a card for our challenge gallery.

We are starting something new this year- the second challenge of every month, we are posting two challenge photos!  You can choose whichever photo you prefer, or you could create two separate cards, one for each photo!

I was inspired by the Globe and Vintage style of the 2nd photo to create a Clean & Layered/ Freestyle Collage Card.
I used co-ordinating designer paper, fussy-cutting some of the elements. The Globe was stamped on Kraft card with Distress Oxide Ink and I swiped a touch of red ink on it to tie it in with the papers.

We hope this new option will be one that you enjoy as much as we do- our Designers will let you know which one they decided as well.

Remember, an inspiration photo is exactly that- a starting point for inspiration. Will it be the colours, the overall theme, the texture, the actual items and/or something else that will inspire your card?

I hope you'll visit The Card Concept Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the team has created and will be inspired to play along in the challenge with us.

Choose a design style (or combine styles), create a card, and in your blog post, let us know what inspired you from the photo, what style and/or styles you chose and don't forget to display our inspiration photo and link back to our challenge :-)

More Autumn Leaves

Hi there. Heres another card inspired by the Altenew Inspiration Challenge. I love the colours in the Inspiration photo.

I stamped the leaves and sentiment with Delicata Gold Ink and then I used Altenew Inks on the solid leaves stamp, spritzed lightly and sprinkled with Nuvo Shimmer Powder before stamping. To finish I splattered the ink and mounted on Kraft card.

Stamp set: Altenew Leaf Canopy

I'm also sharing a Black & White card I made for the 'Less is More' Challenge'

The stamps are from Stamplorations.

Autumn Inspired

It may be Spring in Australia, but I love making Fall cards so I'm playing along with the Altenew Inspiration Challenge which has a very pretty photo to inspire us.

I stamped several foliage images from one of my fave Altenew stamp sets and die-cut with the co-ordinating dies. To make the background, I embossed instead of die-cutting, the cream panel with an Altenew Coverplate. I swiped gold ink on the edges of the card for definition. I'm not sure, what made me tear the edges of the sentiment strip, but I like the effect. To finish I added the bow and sequins.

Stamps: Altenew Leaf Clusters, Altenew Leaf Canopy (sentiment)
Dies: Altenew Leaf Clusters, Altenew Striped Leaf Cover Die

Altenew Pair-A-Flower: Watercolor Edition Contest

Altenew have a wonderful contest, which is to  Create a project with any Altenew floral design and WATERCOLORING MEDIUMS. Pair it with the same flower in real life or a similar floral design and photograph the two side-by-side.

Well as I said in my previous post, I've been practising watercolour with lots of Altenew stamps and the difficult decision is which cards should I enter. I know I definitely want to include an Iris, but it's been so cold that they haven't started to flower yet. The same with our Just Joey Roses. I did find some Camellia bushes in flower last week, so that what I will share for my first card.

I used Altenew Wallpaper Art and Leaf Clusters along with Altenew artist watercolor 24 pan set and Altenew Metallic Watercolor Paints.

Check out the contest at Altenew Card Blog. They have wonderful prizes.
