More Summer fun at the Mixed Media Card challenge

Hi there. Just a reminder about the current challenge at Mixed Media Card Challenge. The theme is Summer. I must admit, Summer is not my favourite season - it seems to be getting hotter every year with records temperatures being broken. So what I like to do in Summer is stay cool!

To make the  background, I used a stencil and distress paints.  Then I added more waves with gelatos,  a gold crayon, glitter and glue.
The sentiments and seagulls are cut with Silhouette and then white embossed.
The 'summer' is a Winnie & Walter cut file.

You should also check out this amazing card by Loll Thompson.
You can link up your cards to the challenge here you have until 25th August.

ETA: I am entering this card in the Simon Wednesday Challenge,
because the theme is Make it Sparkle.

Stretch your Stamps 2 OCC - Homework Day 2

I've had a very busy day today. I made this card this morning and then took my niece (from the UK) shopping at Chadstone , our biggest shopping centre. I bought lots of things, including some crafty stuff and then when I arrived there were 3 parcels at the door! One of those parcels was from Ellen Hutson and another one from Winnie & Walter.  I think I'm going to have some fun!

This card is inspired by Jennifer McGuire's video on Day 2 of the OCC Stretch your Stamps 2, using a background stamp and Perfect Pearls. I actually used Pearl-ex powder. It's a duo colour, which means you can see different colours in different light.

The background stamp is from Hero Arts and I've also stamped the Friendship script on the backing card inside the butterfly window.  The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions.
I'm entering this in the Simon Wednesday Challenge - the theme is Anything Goes.

ETA: I am entering this card in the Simon Wednesday Challenge,
because the theme is Make it Sparkle. This card sparkles with Pearl ex and sequins.

Bokeh Birthday

I just watched a fabulous video by Dawn from WPLUS9 on how to make a bokeh effect., so I thought I'd have a try.

This time I've used a sentiment from Mama Elephant, so I'll enter it in the current challenge which is to make a  watercolour card with a birthday theme.

I followed Dawn's technique, but instead of using white ink for all the bokeh, I used distress stain for the big dots. I used watercolour paints for the background. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Make a Wish.
I think I need more practise at sequin placement - I was trying to be random, but it ended up too much in a line!!!

Watercolour with Mama Elephant

Hi there and Happy Monday! Well I know that Monday can be less happy for a lot of people as it's the beginning of the working week, but I'm lucky enough to be at home and I love the peace and quiet which is very conducive to creating.

I have created this card for the Mama Elephant august challenge - the theme is Watercolour and Birthdays.

The flower images are from the Lovely Mums set and this is the first timeI've inked them up.
I had a bit of a mishap when I peeled one of the stamps off, it broke in 1/2, but I could still use it thank goodness - never done that before!
I've used distress inks for the watercolour.

Casing Shari again

A very quick post as we are about to leave for our beach house at Queenscliff. Mind you, don't think of sunshine, because it was snowing near there yesterday! But anyway, I made another card for the Case Study Challenge #202. So here it is.

I've used the Penny Black poppy stamp again, but this time I used copics and pencils to colour the flower and gel pen for some hi-lights. I also used wink of stellar for some shimmer. The background was stamped with Kaisercraft script stamp and Darkroom door butterfly.
I splattered a bit of paint,  stitched a border, added the sentiment, bow and butterfly and then mounted it on a white card base. I really do love kraft! I wonder if non-crafty people like it?

Mixed Media Card Challenge # 2

Hello!  It's the start of another month, so that means we're beginning another challenge over at the Mixed Media Card Challenge. Did you play along last month? We had a wonderful response, with lots of amazing entries and by the looks of them, everyone definitely enjoys mixing up their media!

This month the theme is Summer. For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, you are probably basking in the sunshine and enjoying lots of relaxation, but for those of us, currently rugged up and shivering in the Southern Hemisphere, it's something to look forward too!

When I think of summer, I think of our beach house at Queenscliff, walking along the beach and looking in the rock-pools.

I have used various Distress inks, Heidi Swapp gold  colour shine,  Pearl-ex powder and kindy glitz to make the background. The 'surf' was made with gesso and white distress stain.  I used a stencil and distress ink to get some texture on the sand. The Sea star and shells were finds from my recent Queensland holiday. I sprayed some orange dye-na-flow ink and gold colour shine on the sea star. The Summer sentiment is from a new W&W stamp set The Big, the Bold and Seasons. The 'hello' was made with my new toy - MoTex label maker.

Thanks so much for visiting and don't forget to check out the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog to see what the rest of our talented team have created!

I am entering this card in the Simon Monday Challenge which is 'j for …' - in my case is is it is 'J for Jute', because burlap is made from Jute.
Also entering the Simon Wednesday Challenge which is Anything goes.

Casing Shari Caroll week 5

Hi there. It's a long month, so it we get to case another card from Shari Caroll at the Case Study Challenge - yay! I may even make multiple cards for this one, because I love the inspiration!

I just love this poppy stamp from Penny Black and it reminded me of the flower on Shari's card. The lines on the flower gave me the inspiration to paper piece the bloom.  The paper is from Basic Grey's Fresh Cuts and is a definite favourite of mine! I was going to add a sentiment, but it spoilt the CAS look.
