Moxie Fab World - tuesday Trigger

Just a very quick entry for the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.

The stamp is from Prima and I have used Copic Markers, distress ink and pencils to colour the image.

City Crafter challenge week 110

The challenge this week at City Crafter is  - A Rose is a Rose. I had to make a card for this challenge - who doesn't love roses?! I decided to finally use this beautiful Authentique paper I've been hoarding.

I used a die-namics die to make the roses and a spellbinder die for the doilies. The sentiment is from Papertrey ink. I'm sorry the photo is a little over exposed I think. I liked the Kookaburra tamp image - I think I will send this card to my Mother-in -Law in Scotland, because she loves flowers and  birds and she'll like that it's an Australian bird.

Here is another variation - it does look clearer in this photo.

Make it Monday #67

The challenge this week at Make it Monday  is mixing patterned paper. I found these scraps in my stash and this is what I came up with. (ps: please don't look closely at the machine stitching - something went wrong with the tension!)

Playdate Cafe PDCC133

I Love the colours in this week's challenge at Playdate Cafe

I had lot's of idea's for this colour scheme, which is odd because I don't think I've combined these colours before. This card is using Graphic 45 paper. I die cut a circle from the patterned paper, then die cut a doilie shape from cream card and mounted with dimensional tape. The knife and fork are from Kaisercraft - I inked and embossed them with silver. The flowers are made using die-namics mini rose and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
This card is a lot busier than my normal style, but I loved the pattern paper so much I wanted to showcase it.
I'm also entering this card in the Moxie Fab Doilies & Lace challenge and Pink Elephant challenge

Scrapbook Boutique - Bold & Bright/Moxie Fab - Doilies & Lace

Today I have made a card for Scrapbook Boutique's challenge,- the theme is bold and bright, which is a perfect antidote for today's weather. We are expected to get a month's worth of rain in one day!
I will also enter this in the Moxie Fab doilies & Lace challenge
The doilie stamp is from Kaisercraft - I used versafine black and clear embossed. The butterflies are Hero Arts. The pink ribbon looks like it is 2 different colours because of the reflection - it was difficult to get enough natural light for a photo today.

Runway Inspired Challenge #12 - take 2

Here is a second card for the Runway Inspired Challenge, because the photo is sp inspiring.
I've used Kaisercraft paper, distressed with inks. The butterflies were punched, then clear embossed with opals thick embossing powder. The leaf embellishment is from Prima and the sentiment is from Stampin Up.

A Blog Named Hero again - Male Card

And here is a male card for this challenge. I don't think I've ever used the typewriter background stamp before!

That's 3 posts so far today - I have been busy and inspired!

A Blog Called Hero - Dust 'em Off!

I just discovered this challenge blog for Hero Arts fans.

I'm not sure why I never seem to enter any cards in The Hero Arts Monthly contest, I certainly have enough stamps, but anyway, this looks like a fun challenge.

Well, I'm not sure about dusting off, because the Japanese dolls are one of my favourite sets! I also used the Japanese script writing and flower background stamps..

Runway Inspired Challenge -ric#12 - Tsumori Chisato

I've been thinking about what to do all week for the Runway Inspired  challenge -isn't it the most beautiful floaty dress, so subtle, yet colourful. Love it!
My first reaction was to use butterflies, but since that had already been done superbly by most other entries, I tried to come up with my own original idea. I was thinking graphic, but I'm not very good at that, then I thought about Japanese cranes, which I wasn't sure how to do. Then I decided to go with these Kaisercraft bird stamps because it reminded me of cranes taking off.
First of all, I cut a piece of canvas and lightly washed it with distress ink. then I stamped Hero Arts Japanese script in Antique Linen (this is probably too subtle to see in the photo). Then I stamped the birdcage image and clear embossed. Next I stamped the birds and leaves using Perfect pearls to make them shimmer and pop. I then sponged the canvas with distress inks and sewed a (very uneven) border, mounted it on Card and then to the base card, which is a gorgeous Coredinations whitewash. Then I added the pearls, ribbon and sentiment, which is from My Favourite Things.
I'm not sure how will the shimmer will show in the photo, but it is very pretty IRL.

Playdate Cafe - Splash of Mustard #2

I decided to make a male card for the Playdate Cafe Challenge, because I found this great Pink Paisley bee stamp at my LSS.
I'm sorry for the bad photo - I took it outside and had to be quick because it was windy and about to rain.
I stamped the bee stamp with Archival black then used copics and
Alison Ellis Sparkle n Soft Flocking Powder.
I tore the paper and inked the edges with distress ink to give a grunge look.

A Passion for Papertrey - Circles

This weeks challenge at A Passion for Papertrey is to incorporate circles in to your design.
Here is my take.

I have used Bazzil embossed card inked with tumble glass distress ink and sprayed with perfect pearls.
Then I have used an embossing folder for the white card( I am annoyed by my non-symerical cutting of this card!) I used a technique learnt from Nichole Heady for the ribbon. I haven't used such girly colours for a long time!

Make it Monday #66

The make it Monday challenge was to use border dies to make felt flowers.  I don't actually have any border dies, but I improvised by using die-namics mini rose and tim holtz tattered rose, then trimming and rolling the felt. It is very poor quality craft felt - I'll have to look around for some good wool felt. The paper is Webster, Crate Paper, and Little Yellow Bicycle. The sentiment is Papertrey Ink.
This is definitely not my style of card, I was trying to do a bit of a collage, but I'm not very happy with the result.

City Crafter Challenge - a Sketch

This week at City Crafter challenge  they have a really original sketch - I could see myself using this for lots of cards.

I raked through my paper pads and found this My Mind's Eye paper. I'm quite pleased with the way it has turned out, I like the contrast of the 2 patterns.
The tag die cuts and sentiment are from PTI, the flower is Kaisercraft and the birds are Prima.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2012 - May

This is Tim's gorgeous tag - I don't have any of the supplies needed, apart from some flowers and a wooden cotton reel, so I  had to improvise.
I used a Kaisercraft chipboard dressform, which I inked with blacksoot and then used perfect pearls to get the blue shimmer.
I don't have utee, so I used Pipe dreaming opal embossing powder in a frypan.
The stamps are Pink Paisley and the charm is Prima. The measuring tape ribbon was a lucky find in a fabric shop.

Playdate Cafe PDCC132

This week at Playdate Cafe is everyone's favourite Black &White with a splash of colour - mustard yellow.

Yesterday I found this handmade ceramic flower in a craft shop
so I thought I'd try to colour it with copics and distress inks-
it's a bit streaky, but I still like the effect. In the centre of the flower I put black seed beads with dimensional magic.
The little black rose is my first attempt with my new die-namics mini rose die.
The yellow gem is from Kaisercraft. The black and white flocked  paper is from a local paper craft cafe.
I used distress inks to dye the ribbon.

Butter wouldn't melt!

Yesterday I had just finished making a card for the OLW challenge, when I remembered I had put porridge in the microwave, so I put the card up on a shelf, while I had my breakfast. When I came back to get the card to photograph it, I couldn't find it anywhere! I was the only one home, except the dogs!

So I went in search and sure enough I found them having a good old chomp on something !

Sure enough they had eaten my card, which must have been blown down by the heater.
They look so sweet and innocent don't they?!!
Well, being in a grumpy mood, I decided to pay a visit to my not so local , favourite scrapbooking shop,
which managed to cheer me up!
When I got home, the dogs were very excited to see me, but I was horrified to find they'd manage to pull my pencil case of copics out of the craft draw and had been having a good old chew!!!!
I was lucky they seemed to like the gel pens best and had only just started on the copies.
I have managed a repair job on most of them with plumbers tape!

Less is More - my second card

This is my second card for this week's Less is More challenge #67
This is a very different card for me, not sure if it worked.
The Violin and sentiment are from Darkrrom Door
and the sheet music stamp is from Kaisercraft. The sheet music is stamped with Versamark dazzle and then I rubbed Gold Perfect Pearls over the image. The Violin is stamped with Ranger Archival black to get the detail and I used Versafine black ink for the sentiment and clear embossed it.
I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp 'Clean & Simple" challenge

Less is More & Playdate Cafe

This week at Less is More they have a doozie of a challenge.

ONE LAYER CARD
This time we have the stipulation to
USE THREE STAMPS
not four, not two... but 3!

The reason I found it a bit tricky is because nI kept having hiccups along the way, just when I'd nearly finished the card, I did something to ruin it. I have however had fun doing lots of stamping and ended of making several different cards. This is the 1st one, which also incorporates the colours of the Playdate Cafe challenge PDCC131

I have used a Penny Black christmas stamp (the bird), but only used part of the image, the leaf stamp is from Kaisercraft and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.
I coloured the images with a mixture of tombow markers, Twinkling H2Os and oil crayons to try to get the colours right.
I went for a watercolour effect and the twinking H2Os add a nice shimmer. I thought about adding a ribbon, but decided to keep the card CAS.

I will also enter this in the CAS-ual Fridays and Penny Black Saturday challenge
- the theme this week is birds.

Make it Monday #65

This week in Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink, the amazing Dawn Mcvey showed us how to use left over strips of different paper and put them together to make a striking card. This is my take on the challenge:-

The rose patterned paper is Christina Re ( I think), the damask is Echo Park and then I've used random coloured card. I embossed the silver card. The ribbon trim is a sparkly gold, to match the gold detail in the rose patterned paper. I've used grey tulle ribbon and a christal flower button. The sentiment is of course from Papertrey Ink and is clear embossed and then I painted the card with twinkling H2Os. I used part of a scalloped die cut to back the sentiment.

A Passion for Papertrey

The challenge this week at A Passion for Papertrey is 'Whatever the Weather'

I used Back Pocket Basics again, this time I used the sun stamp and die
The paper is from Kaisercraft .
I think I will have to send this one to our family in Scotland, who could always
do with a bit more sunshine!

Another card for Playdate Cafe PDCC130

I've had this paper & die cuts for a very long time - they are from Crate Paper 'Kaitlin' collection. The tag is from a $2 shop and I've been meaning to use it for ages.  So I decided to make a second card for the Playdate Cafe challenge.

Playdate Cafe PDCC130

I made this card for the Playdate Cafe challenge - aren't they gorgeous colours?!

I have had this beautiful Japanese style grey fan paper for ages and thought this would be a good opportunity to use it. The Aqua paper is MME and I made the pink using Hero Arts (Japanese script) and Stampin up(butterfly) stamps and distress inks. The Japanese doll image is also Hero Arts.

Cas-ual Friday - Happy Birthday!

The bubble texture paper was cream and I inked it with versa mark, then brushed perfect pearls - gold on it.
The lace and cameo are from a local craft who. The sentiment is from Kanban.
If you want to make a birthday card for this challenge head over to Cas-ual Friday's blog

Make it Monday #64 - Colour Inspiration

There is a great cloud inspiration challenge going on at Papertrey Ink, with 8 different colour combos, which are all fantastic. This is the one I chose, because I love primary colours.

I don't own any Papertrey Ink card stock or inks, so I worked with what I had and hope the colours are close enough. The denim paper is probably a bit light, but I thought it suited this stamp set - Back Pocket Basics. I had a bit of trouble tying in the grey, but the ribbon and sentiment, were what I came up with. I had  lots of fun playing with my new goodies!
