Moxie Fab World - Trendy Triangles - My last Digi Attempt!

I had another play around with the Stampin Up digi program today and made card for the Trendy Triangles challenge. I'm incredibly frustrated that what I see on my computer is not what prints out, so I won't bother to use it again. I don't know if it's my computer ( I have a fairly good Canon), but I'm obviously doing something wrong! I was happy with my design though, so I'll show you the card and the digital image.

More Homework

I'm getting lot's done today! I'm not sure how other people create, but I I often get stuck and put 1/2 finished work in to a 'work in progress' box and then move on to something else. Sometimes I come back to it, but sometimes I lose inspiration and it goes in to a stash box of incompleted work.

Well. this happened to me a lot of the last 3 weeks of Summer Card Camp, because I had so many ideas going through my head. This time however, I'm determined to complete as many cards as I can from my 'work in progress' box!!!

So, after all that rambling, here is my next card...

I have incorporated a few more ideas and techniques from the class in this card. I embossed the branch and birds as demonstrated by Jennifer in week 3. I've used the colours of week 2 and I've used embossed acetate inside a window like Kristina.

Moxie Fab World - Trendy Triangles

This is my 1st card for the MFW Trendy Triangle challenge - I'm hoping to have time to make more.
I got the idea of stitching the triangles from Maille Belles gorgeous card and I thought I'd create my own version. Maille used a die to get the shape, but I just sketched mine, so it looks more random.

The background was coloured with gelatos and roughly smoothed out with my favourite tool - my finger! I used oil sketch paper to give it texture.
I used the colours from Summer Card Camp week 1.

Summer Card Camp Catch Up

Happy Monday (in Australia)!

Sadly Summer Card Camp is drawing to a close and I'm busy today trying to complete all the
unfinished projects that I have been working on for my homework! Now I definitely know where my daughter gets it from, leaving everything to the last minute!

Here is the 1st card...

I used the 1st  colour combo from Week 1 Day 5, but substituted copper for the orange. The background was based on Shari Carroll's card using water colour effect. I used gelatos and then dry brushed the copper lumber paint on when it was dry. The centre of the butterfly was heat embossed 3 times like Jennifer's technique in week . I also used Marion's technique of die-cutting the  butterfly from the background and then placing the white die-cut butterfly in to background paper.

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger time!

I decided to take a bit of a break from Summer Card Camp and make a couple of cards for MFW Tuesday Trigger and Case Study Challenge.

So this 1st card is my second attempt at making a digital card. Like the last card, I used the Stampin up MDS and it is very easy to use, but I'm disappointed at how the colours translate from screen to paper.
I'm not sure if it's my printer or the program.

I added the wash and diamante hearts, but the rest is digital.

My second card is another entry for the MFW Tuesday Trigger.

I had a bit of fun with this one. I randomly brushed some paint across some canvas paper and then when it was dry, die-cut the dragonflies using my brand new Penny Black die. I recieved a parcel of goodies yesterday from PB and Jill Foster and I'm having lots of fun playing with them - you should check them out - there are some fantastic designs. I coloured the base card with gelatos which is so quick and easy. I then decided to try some freeform sewing - it's by no means perfect, but not too bad.
The sentiment is from Kikki K. i added some glitter, sequins and pearls for a bit of bling - and voila!

More Summer Card Camp

Here's another card for the Summer Card Camp Week 3 Day 2. I've used the first card sketch and the colours of the week, which incidentally I'm enjoying!

The phone image is a freebie from a magazine, stamped and paper pieced using Authentique paper.
The lace border  stamp is from Kaisercraft and I used various Distress markers. The sentiment is from Hot off the Press.

Summer Card Camp Week 3 Day 2 - Sketch

This is my second card for the Summer Card Camp Week 3 Day 2 homework.

I Started off with a Kraft card base, but then decided to revert to white.

I bought new spellbinder hexagon dies today and could't wait to use them, so I die-cut a frame for the gorgeous Penny Black butterfly.

I decided to machine stitch the centre line of the sketch for a softer look. The kraft frame was stamped with a Penny Black background stamp and vintage photo ink. The sentiment and banner die-cut are from Taylored Expressions. I stamped the butterfly by colouring the stamp with distress markers

and blending, then spritzing both the stamp and the watercolour paper.

MFW Happy Birthday Card/Case Study take 2

This is a card that I started a few months ago, but decided to finish off today with a couple of added
touches. I'm entering it in the Case Study Challenge, because of the stamped colour blocks and also in the MFW Birthday Card Challenge. I was also inspired by a candle holder I saw in a shop.

The colours don't match the Case Study, but the overlapping colours hopefully echo the inspiration.

Summer Card Camp Week 3 Day 1 - New Colours

I'm playing with the new colours in the Summer Card Camp today and made something very different from what I started out to make.

I was trying out Jennifer's technique of layering a stamped background. I've used an arrow stamp and layered with antique linen and vintage photo. I decided not to be to exact with the lining up, because I wanted to spritz it for a bit of distress look (that's my excuse anyway!).

The arrow stamp is a freebie, the rose image from Kaisercraft and the butterflies from Darkroom Door.
I stamped the rose with dusty concord and the leaves vintage photo and then used shaded lilac and antique linen to add a bit of water colouring
The photo looks very busy, but IRL it doesn't look so bad. I was going for an artsy look and I"m quite happy with the way I combined the colours.

Runway Inspired Challenge Ric#40 Stella MCartney

Another quick post.

I made this card for the Runway Inspired challenge. I was inspired not only by the outfit, but also Kristina's stunning card. It made me think of raindrops...

Actually now that I think about it, the card is very appropriate, because we've had 3 days of rain and the sun is shining today!

PS: I'm working on another version of this, because I was annoyed with the red glitter not staying in place, but I may not get it finished as I'm off to have some tests in hospital and may be out of action for a couple of days.

Case Study Challenge 3150 - First Digi Card

Hi just a quick post as I'm going out to lunch!

I didn't play in the last chCase Study Challenge so this time I'm getting in quick! I decided to have a go at a digital card and used the trial version of Stampin Up's digital program. I found it a bit restrictive due to not all the features being available on the trial and I'd prefer to make my own colour, rather than having to use SU colours, but I still had fun.

This is Jocelyn's absolute stunner!

And this is mine. I hope I get the chance to make another non-virtual card on the weekend.

Summer Card Camp Week 2 Day3 - Christmas in July

Hi there, can you believe we're in the middle of July? Yesterday we had the warmest July day ever recorded 23.3 degrees celcius (remember it's middle of winter in Australia)!

One of the challenges for our homework was to make a shaker card. I've never made one before, so I decided to give it a go, however I made a Christmas decoration instead of a card.
I was quite pleased with myself, because I used up lots of old things from my stash and the left
over mixed embossing powder from the ombre card.

I painted the grungeboard with gesso, embossed it and then used gelatos - I love the creamy effect and the mottled look of the embossing. The christmas tree is chipboard embossed with opals thiock embossing powder. This looks very homemade, unlike Kelly's masterpiece, but my daughter likes it so I'm sure it will be part of her holiday themed room at Christmas.

Summer Card Camp Week 2 Day 2 - More homework

This is my second card for today using the Ombre effect shown in Amber's video.
I'm also entering this in the MFW Birthday Card challenge.
The good thing is, I'm getting some birthday cards for the guys in my life!

I don't have all that many coloured embossing powders and the lighter green is a bit to light, but I quite like
effect. I used washi tape for the brown.
The balloon stamps are from Hampton Art and the sentiment is from Stamp It.

Summer Card Camp Week 2 Day 2/ Moxie Fab World Birthday Card Challenge

Hi, I'm back with a couple more cards for Summer Camp homework.

This card was loosely based on the technique in Jennifer's video. I stamped the balloon images using  distress ink markers and when it was dry, I went over the images with a versamark pen and then clear embossed it. My pen is very old and a bit dry, so it was a bit blotchy.  I decided to go artsy and inked  around the images with tumbled glass and broken china and then spritzed the whole page.
I then stamped the Hero Arts friends definition with Bundled Sage in the background.
I decided to keep with the artsy look and tore the vellum and curled the edges.
I'm entering this in the MFW Birthday Card Challenge

Summer Card Camp Week 2 Day 2 Take 2 (get that?)

 Here is my 2nd card, based on Kristina's video, the colours and one of the sketches.

I've used Inkadoo stamps. I covered both sides of my card to make it more sturdy.

Summer Card Camp Week 2 - Day 1

I'm so behind in last's weeks homework, but when I saw todays videos and new colours, I decided to leave all my unfinished bits and pieces and I've made 2 cards. YAY!

Here is the 1st card based on Jennifer's video and the new colours.

I used pan pastel on the bird die cut and then stamped with  Hero Arts background stamp using peeled paint distress ink.  I used a dauber, a tiny cotton wool ball, a pen lid and a dot stamp for the circles.

Summer Card Camp Week 1 Day 1 take 2 - Yay!

Just a quick post, because I'm a taxi service to my children who are on holidays.

Here is my 2nd card for the Summer Card Camp - I have used another sketch and the colours for week one.

The banner was stamped and clear embossed with a Hero Arts background stamp. Then I coloured it with distress inks and gelatos. When it was dry,  I added the yellow dots with perfect pearls.
I kept thinking I should add more, but in the end I left it CAS, because the stamping was the feature.

Summer Card Camp -Week 1 Day (Winter Blues!)

You may have noticed, but I haven't had many posts lately. I'm officially in a slump!
So 2 days ago  made a snap decision to hop on board the Summer Camp Card Class - it definitely isn't Summer here, I think I have the Winter Blues and I need some incentive and inspiration to give me a kick start.

I'm a bit behind in my homework already, but thats ok because I'm working on several ideas at the same time. Anyway, here's my 1st card. Click here to see the gallery.

First I dry embossed the aqua panel. Then I used gelatos and perfect pearls on an ATC size canvas board.
Next I white embossed the metal embellishment. The butterfly was made previously by stamping on shrink plastic.
The sentiment is my favourite from Papertrey Ink.

Case Study Challenge - All a Flutter!

Yay! Jocelyn Olson is the muse this month at Case Study Challenge. I love all of Jocelyn's work and she is very supportive  as well.

I initially tried to make a virtual card trialling the Stampin Up MDS trial, but I had trouble merging the images, so in the end I went back to the real world of stamping!

I used some very old stamps from Stamp It (an Australian company) and played around with versamark and pan pastels to make a very frenzied background. I only used the 2 colours and blended a bit to make it less busy. Next I swiped the panel with versamark and embossed with white lustre embossing powder. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

If you look closely you will see that Jocelyn has added die cuts  - this is such an amazing card!

Retro Sketch - Using up my stash

Hi it's been a while since my last post. I've been busy helping my daughter find furniture for her bedroom and general taxi driver as it is school holidays here.

The problem with taking a break for me is that I lose my mojo and rhythm  so I decided to look in my box of stash. I created this stamped panel a few months ago but never used it on a card.  I decided it would fit the Retro Sketch Challenge and decided to keep it very CAS.
Lyndal just reminded me about the challenge at A Blog Named Hero which is to use your favourite Hero Arts stamp and this one definitely is (equal) top of my list!

I used distressed inks, salt and perfect pearls to get a textured and shimmery look.
The flower image is from Hero Arts and the background stamps are from a Pink Paislee set.

Moxie Fab World - More Mixy/Matchy Style

Gosh I've been sitting playing with header designs and I seem to have lost 3 hours! I really have no clue about designing my blog so if anyone has any tips or can recommend a link for tutorials, I'd be very grateful.

I made this card about a week ago and forgot to share it, so here it is and I'll enter it in the Moxie Fab World Mixy/Matchy Style challenge and Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes Challenge.

The paper is all from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Neapolitan pad and the chipboard heart is from the 5th & frolic collection. The wooden frame is from Kaisercraft. The sentiment and die-cut banner are  from Taylored Expression. I bought this set from Chupa and I'm getting lots of use from it.
